IrLED? Help

Im not to sure, but I understand that this little black plastic portion on my galaxy note 10.1 (right between the memory card slot and headphone jack) is the IrLED. My problem is, that the little black cover over top of it randomly fell off and it refuses to stay on. Will it affect my tab in any way? If so, how do I fix it?

If you don't use the IR blaster I wouldn't worry about it. The black cover isn't a vital piece of your tablet.
