Is 2gb memory enough?

Hy guys,

I'm writing because I bought the 16gb version since officially only this is available here and my last.

I read - and bought the phone because of that - that the 2gb memory won't affect the speed and performance.

My last phone was a Nexus 5 with 2gb of ram and it was more than enough - even with multiple processes I always had more than 1gb of ram.

Since I switched I'm using the same apps at the same time and I noticed that - as you can see on the picture - I only have like 300mb of ram left. I think it's quite a big difference. Is it only me or others too? I think this could affect the performance since apps have to restart constantly.

Any ideas or suggestions?

Yes ;) am useing a galaxy nexus with 4.4.4 kitkat (cyanogenmod 11 installer) and that is fast with 623MB of useable ram and i have 304 mb left.

The QHD screen uses 600mb of RAM as video RAM this is compared with 200-300mb for an HD screen so you're going to have less free RAM overall. If you get the app Kcontrol and you're rooted you can see this.

G3 has a heavier UI also.

My phone is rooted and Google free. I don't use Google services so their apps have no place on my phone. No social media either. Phone, sms, email, Internet, TV. Bing and DDG for search. Aosp browser. All I require.

So any experience since we posted some stuff here?

I'm thinking if should I get a 32gb version only because of the ram - I'm still afraid that all of my apps are closed when I put them to the background since there is literally no memory left because of the system (takes 1,5gb)

Should I think about that or it won't make any difference?

I think you will be okay with the 2GB variant. Spend the extra money on a nice screen protector or wireless charging back/station. :)

I stopped paying attention to this a while back and it's been discussed/posted that you shouldn't really worry about it and let android do its thing.
