is a little bit of wake lock normal?

I think I may have *touching wood* figured out the majority of my wake lock issues, just labeled "android OS wake lock" in gsam battery monitor. Did some googling and tried unchecking sync my data under backup and reset in settings. Took wake locks down from literally hours especially over night, to a few minutes here and there. I'm just wondering if that little bit is normal, or are all wake locks bad? I mean it's still so much better so far, but I just wanted to check ☺

I believe that wakelocks are necessary in order to allow system apps to do occasional stuff when the phone is sleeping, but sometimes something gets stuck doing something unnecessary and the result is absurdly high battery drain.
