Is a Virus Scanner Needed on the TB?

I saw a few threads and it they spoke of having virus scanners on their phones, Is this needed? If so which app is the best one and does it cause a significant drain on battery? Thank You In Advance.

Mmm In my opinion it is not. But they're has been some Crazy stuff in the app store lately But Google has taken care of it. Just think of it this way, If you know what you are doing and know which apps are good & not good then no you don't need one. But if you are unsure? then go with Look out i have noticed no Battery drain when i had my EVO 4g.... & if it was draining my battery it wasn't draining it much.

because they don't ask on a forum if they need it or not and just install. those android antivirus are really just there to advertise their pc solutions.

In my opinion, one reason an AV is not needed on a cell phone (besides any technical reason) is that you can easily always do a factory reset and you're off and running again. No big deal. This (an AV) is a case of the cure being worse than the disease.

I use Lookout just for it's ability to help me find my phone I'd it's lost (kids play with it and leave it all over).

In my opinion an anti-virus is not necessary.

Thanks Dan, Yes I have been hearing about lookout, but I read whatever I download beforehand and don't download things that I am skeptical about, this is why I love coming here the feedback is amazing.

Hi Prakash, I come here all the time and try to find out new things daily, if not for this forum I would basically be lost, My son has the Evo but seeking information from him is like asking for it lol. He configured his phone in such a way that it amazed me but I am to new for that right now. So back to the subject at hand, I was going to look into lookout but i'll stay away from that. Thank you for feedback

Very few things in life are needed. It doesn't need it as much as a computer would but it would help with paranoia.

Not necessary at all, and blackberry users converting to Android. PLEASE stop using task killers.

If you can read reviews in the app marketplace, you don't need a virus scanner

I have not noticed any battery drain with LOOKOUT.

Lookout scans the phone at night, so the battery hit isnt that bad.

I've used Lookout on both my Incredible and now my TB. No battery drain. I have it set to scan/backup once a week, and it scans any new apps as they're installed. The missing device feature is great.
