Is a warm N7 necessarily a battery getting ready to blow up issue, or a processor working and getting warm issue?
Seems like many are getting concerned about warm phones, understandably.

I don't think warm means going to blow up. Mine gets warm if I'm heavily gaming or updating stuff. But usually the battery goes back down and cools off after a while.

There's no way to discern if a phone has a bad battery or identify if it's about to blow up/set fire.

That's why Samsung has initiated the recall and requested everyone to return/exchange the device asap.

Depending on your view of this - if you want to take the risk to continue using it until you can swap it out.. that's certainly an *option*.... ;)

It's like lighting an old firecracker - it might go off.. but you're not sure... :)
