Is anyone else having google voice problems?

You have helped now & i know that wasnt your issue. Thanks. I can now see why vzw doesnt support the gv app.
I was concerned about how YOUR situation applied to ME. Since the sum of my v to v, night, weekend, and landline minutes never would add up to my max total it sounds like I would get no overages even if I were ported.
I would imagine this topic is HUGE at gv forums?

May I ask how you will avoid this problem in the future? One thing I hate about gv and gmail too for that matter is there is no way to totally UNenroll.

I'm glad I could help... One of my reasons for posting in the first place was to help prevent others from the same pitfall. My solution was to put that GV number on "Do Not Disturb" then create a new custom greeting giving them my direct number to Verizon, (which was my original landline number, but thats another story), and also telling them messages left in that mailbox would not be retrieved (so they would not leave messages and use minutes). Now I have the daunting task of trying to reduce the charges.

One more thought... check out youmail.com for voicemail on your cell. It has a lot of the same features like GV but is just a voicemail app. It does not route your calls like GV. I am just checking this app out now... hopefully there are no surprizes.

So does your voicemail from calls to your vzw number (do u even have a vzw number?) go to google voice or the original vzw voicemail?

Assuming you are for the moment back on vzw voicemail how do you get it working again? I remember to use gv for voicemail I had to dial some number and hang up. To get back on vzw voicemail is there some number(s) I have to dial?

If i click do not disturb while gv is handling vm for my vzw number will calls to my vzw still connect to me first or will all calls to vzw number and gv number go directly to gvm?

Yes, I do have a few verizon wireless numbers & currently, I'm using "youmail.com" to handle my voicemail. If I use GV, it may use minutes off my verizon plan (I'm not sure about that, I just can't take a chance right now)

I'm actually not storing any messages for that number but if I did they would still be going to GV. I told callers in my greeting to use my other cell number and not to leave any messages in the mail box that they called (GV). I believe you are correct, you would call another number again to swap the voicemail back, but I'm not sure what the number would be.

Honestly, I'm not really sure what will happen in your senario with the do not disturb feature. The best thing to do would be to use another phone to make some calls into your numbers to get factual results.

Yikes, reading this thread re-enforces my choice in only using the stock Verizon voicemail function. It's simple and gets the job done, no muss no fuss. K.I.S.S. principle! :p
