Is anyone else just ants in the pants about a rooted Evo?

There's an app called Titanium Backup that a lot of people in the root world swear by. I install very few apps, so even though I've changed ROMs a number of times, I don't bother with it because it doesnt take long to get all 10-15 of my apps back.

I'm guessing that it's a backup app right? He was asking if there was a patch/homebrew type of deal for Android. I'm not aware of any. Sounds like that app would be useful for when I try to root my Evo, but then again so is Appbrain.

The issue with HTC Android phones... they keep fixing their vulnerabilities with each release.

Everything is getting progressively harder. i.e. Incredible locked down tight.

The one thing the Sprint user base has going for it is more knowledgeable devs working on the devices since they have them. Except for gbhil, he's worthless.

Worthless checking in.

With 37 different methods to brute against the running kernel on the EVO :) If by some slim chance one of them works, don't share with Newman ok?

Migrating from iPh...

Ok, so I'm new to Android and am getting my EVO on June 4th (hopefully) as I pre-ordered it from BB. I have experience with jailbreaking devices and making all sorts of mods on it. Just wondering if the process is similar with Android. More complicated? Simpler? Anyone?

Thanks!

Do the Android community have something similar to the Pre's webos quick install or preware?

Well no, because you don't HAVE to root to get basic functionality back. Android does a good job of providing a complete OS, not betaware... Having said that, added functionality comes in the form of apps, either in the market or sideloaded (like wifi tether, not using the wifi). For the wifi tether that doesn't require $30/month extra, root is required. You don't need root to sideload apps though, so thats good.

You guys are nuts :p

One of the may reasons why I love this forum ^_^

(And to stay somewhat on topic... I have the utmost confidence in all the folks here that go out of their way to root, develop... etc for us. You guys really rawk! I'm sure we'll see a rooted EVO in due time. Patience is virtue ;))

EDIT:
You really can't argue that... more knowledgeable = knows its smarter not to pay more for service.

+1 to that! XD

Sounds interesting. I'm new to the scene but seems like good times. I don't know if its possible but is there a way to run the iphone OS on a android phone? Like for instance if you were to install windows on a mac or vice versa

iphone os on an EVO? I won't flame you for that, but if you want an iphone, get an iphone.

Anyone here have any input?

Anyone here have experience with JB iPhone OS?

I'm new to android hacking and whatnot. I plan on getting more involved with it once I get my evo.. but here's a quick question:

Is there any chance of bumping up the FPS on the 720p recording with a hack/patch of some kind? I think currently it records at 20 FPS.. and it looks choppy.

I'm selling my I/O Evos now, but if they root and take Sense off of it, I'd consider rebuying it. I just hate the look :/

Why would you want to do that? I know you can do the reverse, install Android on iPhones though ;)

Won't know until its rooted to begin with. Likely, if HTC can get JIT working on Sense, that would help greatly.
