Is anyone planning to buy the new Nexus 4 wireless charging dock?

Just preordered the TYLT Vu charger from the other thread. Interesting - no shipping charges. Says available on 4/1. Already using the Nokia DT-910 w/ my N4 & satisfied thus far. Charging is a bit slower than plugged in, but the point is that it's much easier to just grab and go, since I plug in my phone on my desk most times anyway.

imo it's docked so nicely like a stand that i would personally use it while its on the dock.

I think the" using it while charging" issue has more to do with being able to move the phone around at the end of its cable versus having to lay the phone down on a charging pad.

Its definatly worth getting, I have the Lumia 920 and use a wireless dock every night before going to sleep. I suppose that's the best use for it anyways.

In my case, I have the wireless charger downstairs in the kitchen and when I get home and am doing things around the house, I can just place the phone on my LG WCP-700 and let it charge while I am doing whatever.

I can then simply pick it up and either go upstairs or leave the house, no fuss, no muss. Could I just as easily use a cord, yep but this just looks cooler.

Saves all the wear and tear on the port to charge it wirelessly while you are doing other things. Can't be on the phone all the time...

I tried out the Nokia DT-900 wireless pad. Not impressed at all. It's extremely slow.

This isn't new, this is the same charging pad they showed when the Nexus 4 was first announced. It's been AWOL since. If it ever comes out I would consider it, but for now it's just vaporware.

Anyone remember if it was ever actually announced outside of that Verge video? 'Cause I'm not so sure it was.

I do miss my Palm Pre Touchstone so I'll probably grab one of these when/if they come out. Just hope the price is reasonable.

I've pre-ordered a couple of the tylt docks. I like the ones that go at an angle because it makes the phone readable while charging, as opposed to when it is laying flat.

charging on these is a bit slower than plugging in a cable directly, because there's no way the energy transfer can be 100% efficient. That being said they are super convenient. I came over to Android from the Palm Pre and I had at one point 3 different touchstones (2 in my house, one at work) for it. I like the idea of the magnets in the official charger that would let me use it portrait or landscape, but with some of the "universal" ones like the LG ones mentioned or the tyst which it just rests at an angle mean better compatability with future qi phones, so that's a tradeoff I'll make.

i don't see the point to wireless charging. the dock still has to be plugged into a power source and you can't use your phone while it's charging.

with a regular charger, at least you can still use your phone. and since either solution needs a power source to be plugged into, you might as well just carry around a charger versus a dock and an ac adapter to connect it.

The benefits should be obvious > first of all, you can just pick it up whenever it rings just like any cordless phone and walk around and talk or just leave the building. Plugged in to a charger, you effectively have a land line. Also, the phone is more likely to be charged and ready to go if all you ever do is set it down in the same place every time.

I'll consider one when the prices go down a bit. It's a little too expensive to say it's just for convenience and style...

You can use the phone while charging.

Also, I understand, "why this when you just have to plug it in..." Seems simple enough but you won't believe how much nicer it is to just lay it down and it's getting topped off. It's really a nice convenience factor.

Coming from someone who used a palm pre touchstone .... u will need one of these in everyroom and even your car once you try it!
