Is anyone using stock messaging and stock keyboard?

I’ve tried so many from Android messages to Textra and many more along with Gboard. Wondering if stock Samsung just works the best/fastest? Ideas?

I don't use it but you can't get some of the emojis if you don't use the stock keyboard!

Not really picky about both apps and honestly I just want it to look different from my Huawei P20 Pro.

Using SwiftKey on the other.

Samsung announced a partnership with Google for the next Messages update that it will be compatible with Google RCS. So I assume, by Pie, I'd expect the Samsung Messages app to be the best choice for me. The Samsung Internet app is basically Samsung building on Chrome for Android's engine. Hopefully the next Messages app will be the same treatment on Google messaging app. That would be awesome.

I found the same thing - I've been using SmartKeyboard Pro since the Note 4 (4, 5, 7 and 8) and when I got the 9, my emojis disappeared!!! Got NO HELP for the SKP developer so I'm running Samsung Keyboard for the same reason as you Mzkeke1! Why can't they just leave things be?

The samsung keyboard is OK, but I find it a bit clumsy whilst using 2 language's.
I use SwiftKey as, Nederlands and English work seamlessly.
With the Samsung keyboard I constantly have to manually swith language. If it would just work seamlessly like SwiftKey I would use it.
As for the samsung message App I use that, I very rarely send an SMS so it does its job 👍

I got back into using the Samsung messages app while I had my S8 plus and am now still using it on my n 9. This app has come a long way from where it used to be. It sucked for me at one point was so unusable to where I HAD to use a third party app.I think not being able to customize the app had alot to do with it. Although the customization and theming is still a little restrictive , I don't feel the need to use a third party texting app.

I use gboard as my keyboard. The Samsung keyboard's auto correction is horrible and I hate that you can't customize the keyboard without a Samsung theme. Sometimes i just like to add my own picture as a background on my keyboard. Gboard and Swiftkey allows that.

You all have motivated me to try out the Samsung keyboard for a days. I haven't used it in years and I've always automatically downloaded a third party app. Lets see how long it lasts.

Unless the Samsung messenger app has changed in the last few weeks...

You can't customize different notifications; icons, sounds, LED color, for different contacts.

This is the single most important feature for me. I want to know by sound, or at a glance whether my son, wife, or someone else, just texted me.

Samsung's messaging app does not have that feature, but Textra, and some others, do.

I would use stock except it doesn't work well with GBoard GIF's. I know you can do GIF's with the stock keyboard but I don't like that it didn't have a search feature for GIF's and only has a select amount. I like my variety.

There is a search feature for GIF’s using Samsung keyboard.

I used it for a time, but I find Android Messages and Gboard to be Bette for me. I can use android messages from my computer. And the floating keyboard on Gboard is sweet.

Samsung messaging app is too compromised (or at least it was the last time I used it)

I prefer Gboard and Android Messages.

I use stock keyboard however android/google message app. Last I herd SS message app was sending all your pics to all the contacts!

I use the stock messages and keyboard. No issues really. What I like is when I have themes the themes transfer to my messages and keyboard so it looks really nice.
