Is Battery Doctor (or similar) necessary with Lollipop 5.0.2 installed?

Just bought my Z3 Compact and out of habit downloaded and installed Battery Doctor...but now I'm wondering if it is necessary and if it actually provides any help

Yes - it's necessary - that you immediately uninstall it, and any other apps written by Cheetah Mobile. They don't understand how Android works (Clean Master does exactly the opposite of what the Android memory manager does, so they just fight each other, slowing the phone down and wasting battery), so their apps usually do more harm than good. (And there are fairly substantiated rumors that their apps steal data from your phone and send it to a server in China.)
