Is bluetooth different in a Samsung Galaxy S4 compared to S5?

Having bluetooth connectivity issues with my 2013 Prius, dealer says bluetooth working fine. Recently my Prius bluetooth disconnects my phone and acts like there is no phone connected, sometimes mid speach while I'm on a call. When I try to re-pair phone, Toyota bluetooth does not respond leaving me dead in water.
