Vipre security program (in the paid version at least) has the ability to turn on an alarm even if the phone is on silent to locate it, lock the phone, wipe the phone, and locate the phone on a map via the Vipre website. The free version of this very good security program is in the App Store as Vipre (note spelling).

At least now I know I'm not the only one I was going crazy trying to figure out if they stripped it. I was sure they did when they offered the remote locate as an additional charge with the insurance and provide their own app

Seriously guys, Where's My Droid is a free download from the Google Play store and does everything you're looking for. If you want the remote wipe feature, you can buy the pro version for $3.99. I really don't see what the big deal is here.

Longtime blackberry guy here. I was looking for a blackberry protect type of option and where's my droid is definitely it. I've tried a couple of the features but haven't need to try others. It works great and the GPS locator locks in fast
