I emailed my Gmail from my computer using an old Yahoo account.. still hasn't beeped or notified me yet on my phone. I thought Gmail on the Incredible was push?

I hope it is, from everything I've read it's supposed to be. I haven't got my hands on the DI yet, but on the wife's Eris it comes in pretty fast.

hrm.. im using the Gmail app that comes with the phone.. emails dont seem to be 'pushing' right away. anyone know what im doing wrong?

delete and set the account up again maybe? i know its gets pushed to my phone same as my BB. maybe 1-3 seconds between the two phones

I am having the same problem....does not sync using gmail app on phone.....i get nothing on phone even though i have emails in my account.....whats up?

it shows emails in mine.. just pushes a bit slower than what i've seen on bb. i think it refreshes itself automatically every few min. i dont get it RIGHT away when it's sent.. but i do get it within a few min. is that normal? i thought it would be INSTANT lol. the exchange seems faster than the Gmail push

hrm.. i had to turn 'activesync' on. oops! but i think it's still a bit slower than real push?

If you are using Activesync, it sounds like you are using the Mail app, not the Gmail app. There are two different email apps on the phone - Gmail, which connects only to Gmail accounts and supports push mail, and Mail, which connects to any POP3, IMAP or Exchange account. POP3 and IMAP are not push in this client, but are polled on a schedule, while Exchange accounts are push.

If you are using a gmail account, and especially if you want push, I think you should be using the GMail application.

I was able to setup my gmail with push using Exchange. i set it up similar to how you setup push on an iphone. for server, you put down m.google.com.
So here's the crazy thing, when i set it up, it then asked if i wanted to sync my email, contacts, or calendar. The same exact things that are already synced when i set up the phone! now i get 2 notifications when i get an email, one from each service, which makes sense. i guess i am confused on which method i should use for retrieving email. seems like the exchange method doesn't support threaded conversations, but it integrates with my contacts better. what do you guys think?
