Is Google Fi better than Verizon?

Hi folks I know this has been brought up but wondering if Fi would be better overall than Verizon.

Fi is good for low data users. It uses Sprint, US Cellular, and T-Mobile for coverage. It is hard to say if it would be better then Verizon for you since carriers are area dependent.

Thanks for the info. I thought they used whatever towers available including Verizon.

Nope -- Verizon is picky about who they let be a MVNO with them.

I'm in the same situation. I think Fi works best with users who have high wi-fi access. I have unlimited data, and use it, so Fi wouldn't be the best fit for me.

Tried Fi for awhile and switched back to VZW after a few months. The coverage just doesn't compare. Or it least it didn't a year or two ago. I'm an attorney and got sick and tired of having zero service in half the courthouses I went into.

And actually I just checked Fi's pricing and I'm currently getting a better deal on VZW. One line, 5gb per month (plenty for me) is a little over $60/mo on VZW. On Fi, it's be over $70. I'm sure there are situations where Fi could save you money, but it wouldn't for me.

They kind of have unlimited data option. After 6gb of data used, additional data does not count on your bill anymore. One flat rate after that. I think it caps out at $80/mo.

Yeah saw that yesterday night which is kind of nice. But for 2 lines looks like not a great deal. Currently I'm paying $100 for unlimited 2 lines on TMobile so much cheaper than what it'll cost on fi.

Yes but once over 15 GB you are hard-capped at 2G speeds (for the rest of the cycle) so .. basically worthless.

No one has mentioned that Project Fi has way better Black Friday deals, their $350 for a LG G7 deal was incredible. Also their support team is great.

Their deal yesterday was ridiculous. Buy phone, get gift cards equal to phone value.

I don't know about that; 15 gigabytes would mean up to 2 hours per day of Netflix streaming off of cellular.

Once you hit 15 GB you are hard capped at 2G speeds. That is fully known.

If you use more than 15 GB of data in a cycle (less than 1% of individual Fi users as of Jan. 2018), you’ll experience slower speeds above 15 GB with Bill Protection.

It also depends on where you live, which carrier works for you. I live in the U.S. desert Southwest. Unless you live in a large city, or suburbs of one, Verizon is the only way to go. Driving through vast stretches of desert, or mountains, Verizon is the only carrier that you can depend on, and THEY don't even cover everything.
