Is Google going to be in the 2 in 1 / pro tablet race at all?

With the release of the iPad Pro and the Surface Pro 3/Surface 3, these run on Windows 10 and IOS 9. But where's Google in this race? Apple pretty much legitimized the Large Screen Pro tablets along with the 2 in 1 categories with the iPad Pro.

Traditional Tablet sales from IOS and Android are decreasing rapidly and are expected to further decrease the year after. This also brings Android down with it, this as a result of how far the hybrid tablets have come, especially with Intel Skylake coming soon to the market.

Note that Samsung has tried to do this with the Note Pro 12, it still only one OEM that seems committed to Android on the large screen.

While Microsoft and Apple are in the future of PCs/Tablets, I wonder where Google fits in

What are your thoughts on this?

Probably not. Tablets are a dying breed. And Google hasn't made an OS optimized for a tablet in years, in terms of features and interface.

It's quite sad really that Google is ignoring, the next form of computing right in front of their faces.

Definitely agree with this, the iPad Pro in part exists because iPad sales are decreasing. Google seems to be more focussed on Chromebooks in that space and most of them are actually better priced than an iPad prob.
