The M8 was listed to get it, but there was no eta on getting it last time I talked to one of the reps. She said it was mainly up to the manufacturers as to when that update comes out.

I read HD voice is part of the android 5.1 update which we don't have yet for the M8

I believe it depends on your carrier to provide coverage for the service and implement on the phone. AT&T has updated their M8 to Lollipop 5.0.2 and have included HD Voice. Actually, HD Voice was available one Kitkat 4.4.4 also a few months ago on the M8.
