Is it a good idea to get the Xperia z3 in 2016?

I'm on T-Mobile, and I'm considering trying out the Sony Xperia z3 that is locked to T-Mobile. Apparently, it had an update that enabled Band 12, which is so needed for me at work.

However, I have seen some people say that it probably isn't ideal to get one since Sony dropped support for it, as did T-Mobile.

I have tried the 5x (it was alright, didn't love the battery life) and the Nextbit Robin (oh how I hated the battery life on it). I have no interest in possibly trying anything else, aside from maybe the Sony Xperia XA. Thoughts?

I'm perfectly happy with my Z3, it runs nicely on Marshmallow. I'm feeling it might have dipped a bit in terms of battery, but STAMINA is promised to return which probably helps a bit. But 3.5-4 hours screen on time is no problem.

Not sure how suport per say is in the U.S, but Sony runs both a beta-channel and a "concept build", if one wants to play with new stuff. Google even made Android N preview available for the Z3. It's also got a strong community on XDA.

You might get Android N on the Z3 and the hardware will probably work well a few more years. Storage is and has always been a bit tight with only 16GB total. But for a good price you should be happy with this phone for the coming year or two 😊

Thanks for answering! It gives me something to think about, thanks.

Edit: I found a deal so I'm going to try it!

Im surprised.. I didnt think you could still get the Z3 on contract now. Here in the UK, you can only get it either pre-owned or some online stores are selling it for about £300.

I agree, Its a great phone though and well worth a good deal, it'll probably last you a good year or so.. just dont pay too much for it

Enjoy your Z3

Thank you! I got a used one in good condition, and I'm in the US. A lot of people are selling these for at least $200, so the fact that I got one for $150 is awesome.

I hope the battery life treats me nicely, because that is my only issue with all of the Android phones I have tried. The battery life is a bummer.
