My young son has a Droid X (only using it for wifi, iPod, etc. for now). After I left it charging in the hot sun in a hot car for a few hours it quit working. The battery bulged out and the phone wouldn't boot (only get the 'M' logo). Can this device be salvaged?
Here's what I've tried:
1 - Replaced the battery.
2 - Loaded several SBF's with RDSLite (only the .621 sbf version would work - all the others gave me persistent bootloader errors.) - have learned this may be normal if you've previously updated OTA which I have. The SBF load process reported successful.
3 - Still can't get past the 'M' logo on powerup.
4 - Have tried power up with: power button + Home, power + volume down, power + camera, power + volume up, power + search with no change (still can't get to recovery mode)
Would love to find a way to get this working again - even if only for a wifi/iPod device. This device wasn't rooted - but I'd consider a rooted ROM if it would make a difference. Is there anything more I can do?
If salvage is not possible does it make sense to find a used/broken screen model and move this working screen to another device?
Any help / advice is appreciated!!
