I'm looking to get a g6 but I have one hang up. The last lg I had was the g4 and it was not a good experience. That phone crashed , stuttered and lagged something terrible. Does this phone seem more optimized or have a cleaner skin than before? This is the only thing keeping me from buying.

LG has been getting better and better.. For most of us here, it's extremely smooth. A lot of the comparison videos vs. the S8 talks about how the G6 is smoother even though it has an older chip.

I also had a G4, and I believe this is a much better build. I'd had 3 separate G4s, and each of them had bootloop issues. No such problems with my G6. No issues in 2 months.

Also feel better knowing I have a 2 year warranty on this.

I JUST came from the S8 Plus. I have had my G6 for an hour or so. So far is is very fluid. I enjoy this device so much i have already listed my S8 Plus for sale.

I can say with confidence that LG did a substantially better job optimizing the G6 than they did with the G4... I had both the G3 and the G4 and both sort of ran like a poorly tuned sports car; fast but sputtered and coughed at times. The G3 I had was sort of a hot mess until I loaded a one-off firmware based on the international G3 build (I had the T-Mobile variant) released by a dev called CloudyFA... it got rid of a lot of the jitter and spits... the G4 was very similar in the sense that it just seemed a bit rough around the edges.

The G6, on the other hand, runs quite well. The UI is substantially better than either the G3 or G4 (never had a G5) and everything just runs better.. window transitions, scrolling, moving between screens, etc. Little things that is more about well designed software than it is a function of brute power. They've pulled back some of the odd style choices that they've had in the past and between their improvements and themes, the software is no longer a pain point.

In those light duty day to day tasks that many of us spend most of our time in, there is really very little difference in feel between the G6 and my 6P... "But the 6P is nearly two years old!" you say.... well, it might be, but it is still one of the smoothest operating phones I've used, so from my perspective, that is high praise.
