Is it ill-advised to close all apps instead of pressing home button?

I have a Galaxy s6 and I have gotten in the habit of compulsively closing apps to return to the home screen instead of just using the home button. My rationale is that fewer running apps = less strain on the battery. I am beginning to think that closing apps like twitter when I am going to re-open in in 20 minutes might be more harmful to battery life.

Don't worry about closing apps--Android prefers to keep RAM relatively full of open apps, so if you force close an app, Android will either open it back up again, or open some other app automatically. This is why task killer apps are often useless or counterproductive. Having an app constantly killing apps, and then the system automatically reopening them, contributes to battery drain.
