Is it just me or is the G2 extremely picky w/ which USB cable is used?

Is it just me or is the G2 extremely picky w/ which USB cable is used? If I use my Galaxy S3 cable with my G2 charger, charging won't work. It seems like any 2A charger only works with the stock G2 USB cable only. This creates a problem because I normally use a USB extension and connect my OEM phone cable to it. In this case, since the extension is in between the stock G2 cable and the 2A charger, the phone won't charge!!! Anyone have a solution or can point me in the right direction? TIA
