Or does sometimes using the Android OS make it feel like in order to do certain things, it takes two steps instead of one?

It's early right now and I'm only running on 3 hrs sleep so I'll post examples later, but when I had my BB and when I use my ipod touch, stuff seems easier on both compared to the Android sometimes.

Maybe it's just that I need to get used to the OS. I thought about returning it and waiting on the iPhone for VZW, but knowing my luck, it wouldnt come out, lol.

Sense is awesome, so is the Incredible. The battery life REALLY sucks, but I loved my incredible. I just wish it was bigger. Too bad Verizon didn't get the EVO.

Well on my packing slip it said it was ordered on the 27th of July, but shipped on the 31st.

So do I have until the 27th or 31st? I need to look at an Incredible really.

What specific issues are you having? I recently switched over from an iPhone, and find the Android hugely more convenient. For example, count the steps it takes on an iPhone just to turn Bluetooth on and off, compared to the DX.

There are shortcut widgets available for just about any basic operation on the DX, and perhaps for the ones you are experiencing, but if you don't identify them, this whole conversation is just generalities.

Getting an Incredible isn't going to solve any issues you purport to have with Android OS. Other than the Sense overlay, the OS is the same. I've used both the X and Incredible and the Incredible doesn't make anything 'easier'. It's just a different presentation of the Android OS.

Very true, lol.

One thing I hate is when I try to call someone it seems like you have about two or three steps to find the person you want to call. Like when you click on contacts you either have to slide allllll the way down, or search for someone.

Tucker, I thought about that as well. Another thing, what's the easiest way to get pix on the SD card? I'm wanting to use some custom wallpapers, but dont know the easiest way to put them on the phone.

I have dedicated a whole screen to contacts that I call, email or SMS. As for other contacts I use the Search Contacts app to lookup people I want to call. Notice I said Search Contacts and not Contacts. When the Search Contacts app opens the keyboard is presented and you begin typing the name of the person you wish to dial (very similar to Blackberry, but not quite as good).

One thing that I see many users not taking advantage of is the X's excellent voice command features. Vlingo is now free and does an excellent job of calling people, texting or SMS and a slew of other features. Voice Actions on Froyo does a great job too.

Guess I need to get that app. For me, I love one screen, just easier for me. One thing I do miss about the BB is making folders and just putting crap in them to cut down on the amount of apps I see.

I am using the Motorola Contact Quick Tasks to provide a one click dial for frequently called numbers. It can't be any more convenient than that. You can put a whole bunch of those numbers on a single page, especially if you reduce their sizes to a single slot.

You could also use the Hands Free dial with Nuance, and speak the name you want to call. The contact search itself is pretty convenient, too.

Search Contacts is already on your phone. :)

You can put Folders on the DX, and fill them with Apps- not a problem.

longpress on an empty portion of the homescreen and add a folder.

then you can just drag icons from your app drawer to fill it.

you can also add live folders of contacts, starred contacts, playlists, etc.

there is a learning curve associated with android compared to something like iOS, as there is far more you can customize to make it work the way you prefer.

if you ask specific questions, you're bound to find ways to do things you either didn't know about or didn't think of. we're here to help :)

ps, i had the inc before the x, and the battery life is SO much better on the x, plus to me, the phone feels better in hand.

my sister is liking it though, while i believe it's because sense makes certain tasks simpler for beginning android users, i also think it's because she got a free phone to replace her POS storm. :p

Yup. I use folders and contact widgets. I agree that coming from a BB .. it feels like Android takes extra steps. I still think that BB is a superior messaging device .. but Android just does so much more.

There is a learning curve involved with Android (or any device). You have to change the way you do some things on Android but eventually you start to figure it out ... widgets, folders, shortcuts, universal search, apps ... etc.

Also ... I hate sense. I think it is an awful UI and was a reason I left the Evo. (along with poor voice quality, bad battery life etc...).

either you can plug in the phone and drag and drop, or you can email them to yourself and save the attachment.

those are the two fastest ways i've found to put pictures on the sd card.
