Is it my imagination? (icons not fitting on screen for apps)

A number of my apps (actually is seems like a lot of them) have icons at the bottom for various functions or pages that slop over the right edge of the screen. Is this normal?

Reason for asking is it almost seems like the apps are expecting a different screen resolution and don't fit well and I am wondering if I am such an Android noob that I am missing a setting somewhere that makes things fit better.

Don't get me wrong ... I am 110% happy I ditched my iPhone for my EVO 3D. Just wanting to tweak things to my hearts content

Download the app Spare Parts > Scroll down and UNCHECK "Compatibity Mode" > Reboot ... Should clear that right up.
