Hi!

So today I took the SD card out to check to plug it to the computer to check something.

Once I put it back on my telephone I went to Google Play Music and all my music was gone, Immediately I went to Settings, Storage, and my SD card was visible, with the correct amount of used space but when I clicked on it it said 0 Audio Files, 0 Pics, etc.

Right after I went to My Files and everything was there ( I thought I had ruined the SD card) but still the phone apps including Storage in settings weren't reading its content.

After like 15 minutes everything appeared back on my phone. Is this normal?

Thanks

Yes mustang, think you misunderstood.

It works on my computer, it also works on my phone but after taking it out and re inserting it, it takes like 10 mins for the apps to load the files, like good play music, storage app (it shows how much space is used and how much left but 0 files on it). On the phones files explorer I can see everything without waiting. I was just wondering if its normal that it takes so long for the apps to read the content

Ok gotcha, yeah I highly recommend not using the sd card as adoptable storage, it can cause these issues plus freezes shut downs, keep it for picture, video ,document not app data .

@mustang7757, I don't think the OP is using it as Adoptable Storage in the first place. It sounds like it's Portable Storage, only being used for media files and documents.

@danielthesea, exactly how much data is on this card? As Galactic Zoo mentioned before, if there's a ton of data, it might take the system a little while to scan the entire card for all of the media files.

It's a Galaxy S9.

And no, im not using it as adaptable storage, think it's not even an option for Samsung.

Maybe it's less than 10 minutes, I just know I freaked out when I opened Google Play media and my music was gone, then went to storage and it read perfectly how much space was used and how much was left but after clicking to see the content it said 0 documents, 0 videos, 0 audio etc but they started to appear slowly one by one.

It's a 64gb, around half of it used.

No the s9 not adaptable for SD card , either the SD card is corrupt or you have lot things loaded on it .

It might be helpful to get another card, copy all of the data from the old card over, then see if it takes that long with the new card.
