Is it possible to change the days of mail to sync?

Hi all -

I am just switching from iPhone to Pixel. On the mail app (I guess it is Gmail app?), I have added my outlook.com email account. (The only email account I use)

The app has seemed to sync my ENTIRE history of emails... so I have a massive list of emails in my inbox. Is there anyway to set it to just sync like the last 5 days of emails that I receive instead of all of the ones I have ever gotten? I have gone through the settings, but can't seem to find a setting for this.

Thanks for any help!

Why not use the Outlook app for Android? I use that on my iPhone and plan on using it when I get my Pixel. I like Outlook because I can sync multiple accounts; Gmail, Yahoo, Hotmail and my Google Calendar is in the same app. Highly recommend.

Just in case anyone else has this issue - I found a way to get it to show the option!

If you have a hotmail/outlook/msn email account, do NOT add the account by choosing that type of account ("Outlook, Hotmail, and Live" option) when adding your email account to the gmail app/phone. For some reason, you will not get the option to sync a certain number of days, and instead will have a massive list of ALL your emails from all time. (In my case, this was well over 200)

Instead, choose "Exchange"... even though your personal outlook/hotmail/msn email account is not technically "exchange" (as in exchange server), this option works. (Note: If you have two factor authentication enabled on your account, you will have to sign into your account and create an app password to use as your password. If you try to use your actual regular password, you won't be prompted for two factor authentication and the login will just outright fail)

Anyway, once you add the account as an "exchange" account, the settings menu will now have the option to sync email for only a certain period of time! No idea why it won't appear on the other option, but it works great.

Hope this helps people in the future.
