Android Central Question

So okay I was wondering if it was possible to root (Im guessing that’s the right term) a Motorola phone with android 11 to have Samsung ONE UI installed on it? Is it possible to install certain android version from other phone brands to another phone brand?

Thank you

Welcome to Android Central.

To be honest I gave up on rooting a long time ago and have fallen out of touch with most things root. However what can say is that it depends on what is out there. Root is different for each device and each manufacturer. In a nutshell the device has to be one popular enough for someone to have taken the time to create an exploit for it. Basically find the Achilles' heel of the device which allows a script to run giving the user access to the devices main program. Some Motos fall into this category for sure but probably not all. Same with Samsung and LG where you're going to have issues finding exploits for the lower end or poor spec devices. The other side of root is if you have a device that has an exploit you'll then need ROMs to run on it. A ROM is the basic program and usually includes the OS and UI. Sadly you can't just throw any OS and UI on any device. The make up of the device may hinder this but the biggest hurdle will be has someone taken the time to write and edit, say, an Android 11 OS with One UI for a that specific Moto? Again the hardware kind of dictates what software can run on what hardware. People experiment all the time though and someone could try loading a Sammy ROM on a different brand it'll likely be buggy but may work for the most part. I won't say that's what I know about rooting but that's pretty much what I remember of my experience with it.

Probably the best place to get a start with root is the forum at XDA Developers followed with some YouTube. They are a large forum of enthusiast like us but with more focus on rooting and mods for Android. Most of what we cover here is the basics on stock devices. I'm sure some of our members have knowledge and skills with root but the community is far bigger at XDA. Plus they have links and How To's.

None of this is to say we wouldn't welcome you here, we surely would. In fact if you would like to reply to this thread and receive notifications when others leave replies please become a member. This link will help you do that... https://forums.androidcentral.com/ask-question/409154-join-android-central-community-new-post.html

I would also recommend if you go to XDA that you become a member of their forum. It makes communicating easier as you must be a member to post more than a question at both sites.

Best wishes
