Streaming movies from Nexus 7 (2013) to Samsung Smart TV without any adapters

Hello all,
I've a Nexus 7 2013 tablet and a Samsung Smart TV.
I opened Youtube app in tablet and noticed "connect a device" option.
I was able to connect to my TV instantly without any adaptes such as Chromecast and Miracast and voila!

In a similar fashion, I was trying to stream movies from MX or VLC player from my tablet but in vain. If youtube is streaming why not other apps?

Could some experts help me in this regard?
Also some technical details behind this technology

This could be a feature supported by YouTube and not the other methods. Chromecast support is your next best wireless solution.
