I have just joined university and they have given me an email to use with the domain "@myport.ac.uk" and am required to sign into Google everytime, however, when going into Gmail and Drive, the Google logo at the top left corner is replaced with their logo. I was wondering is it safe to be signed into this university provided account onto my phone which is running Android Marshmallow.
I've been given an account which uses Google's servers but is under the name of the university to sign into for email and use of drive. I also need to sign into this account on my phone to be able to view the timetable.
I was wondering if I were to sign into this account on my Android Marshmallow device so now I have my (2) other personal Google accounts from before and this university managed account (since they use Google but manage it themselves -for example, when I go into google mail; the Google icon is replaced with the logo of the university and the same with Drive), what does this university account have access to on my phone since I don't want the uni snooping around my personal stuff on my phone because I've added the account as a Google account to access mail and the drive as well as the timetable and possibly any other Google features but managed by the university.
I'm worried that this account will be able to access my personal stuff. Can anyone help? Is it safe to be signing into and linking "[myname]@myport.ac.uk" as a Google account on my Galaxy S7 edge running Android Marshmallow without any concerns. What permissions does the university have over my details and personal app/files on my phone. Also is this the same case as with signing in on desktop Chrome?
