I am going out of town this week, and I received an external battery from my friend. It is sort of a promotional item as it has his work place's logo on it and its own mid quality micro usb to usb.

The specs on the battery are:
Input: DC 5V-500mA
Output: 5V-1000mA
Capacity: 2200mAh

I realize this battery will not do a significant amount but any amount counts with the battery on this device, I just want to make sure the battery pack will not harm my device's battery in any way.

Thank you!

Thanks for the quick reply!
Would it do damage with continued use or could it possibly damage it with just a few uses? I'm not familiar with how phone batteries work but I am always scared to use 3rd party chargers and usb's.
