Is it too big?

Hi,

I'm thinking of buying this phone but I am wondering whether it is too big! I sometimes like to type one handed. For the phone I have now (4.3" LG) that is fine but I am pondering whether or not this will not be possible with the 4.7" screen?

If you have this phone, please could you kindly report how easy it is to hold and operate this phone one-handed? Is sywpe something that can be used on this big screen too?

Thank you.

Any report would be subjective, preferences, hand size, typing styles, and usage all come into play. For my usage, 4.3 is on the money.

On the humor side: TWSS.

4.7 is just about perfect for me, and I'm no Yao Ming.

Can't say I fared well with the one-handed typing, though that's probably due to my inexperience with touchscreen phones (I was a BlackBerry user up until yesterday).

I think the importance of you putting your life on hold right now to go out and get this beast of a device far outweighs that of whether you'd be able to use it with one hand.

I had the same concern and since HTC One S is micro arc oxidized, I am getting the One S instead.

4.3 inches seems to be the sweet spot for all around use

I think the One S would be the better size for me as I just think 4.7" is too big. But the biggest downside to the One S is the storage.

I have held the Galaxy Nexus and that fitted quite well in my small hand! Is the One X much wider? I will try to see them in real if I can!

The biggest downside of the S is the display !! Pentile and just Qhd is not even worth thinking about. I'm so disappointed of my Nexus s screen

Let me first say that Swiftkey 3 Beta is DA BOMB! I have tremors, which is why my current phone has a physical keyboard. For me, the larger the screen means a larger the keyboard...easier to type. Since it seems physical keyboards are not/never were taken seriously by manufacturers, I've been trying to use my virtual keyboard as much as possible, anticipating my next phone. My first choice of a replacement is the Galaxy Note (hopefully on Sprint soon), and for not just the huge screen. My second choice WAS the Epic 4G Touch. But now, my second choice is the EVO 4G LTE. So screen size is a matter of personal choice, and should be investigated HANDS-ON before making a choice that will probably be with you for 2 years. Too many variables for one-size-fits-all decisions.

having, before, the htc evo 3d, i can't say it is big.. yes, it is wider and longer but not thicker (big difference here) and the weight is a lot less too.. so, in my hand it feels amazing and on the pocket i hardly notice it.. and it is "wearing" a silicon cover. not, for writting, eventhough i usually use it with my both hands it is easy to write with one hand but, to be honnest, with swiftkey it is always easy..

I don't think it's too big by any means. Having played with the Galaxy Note a couple of times without a problem I can't see a smaller device than that being too big either.

But again, the question was about typing with one hand, actually holding and operating with one hand. I guarantee you didn't do that with the note.

If you are one handed I can see this being a concern. If you are planning a lot of one handed use, I hope like hell its not for texting while driving. :p In any event, this seems a pretty marginal excuse to shy away from this phone.

For me, it is doable, but neither fast or efficient. I use Swiftkey, and with out its uncanny ability to predict words It would be pretty much an emergency use only technique.

I find android's voice to text accurate enough to send emails or text messages when I have a hand busy.

You should try it in person though, the size looked gigantic when I tried it in a store and although I liked the screen real estate I didn't feel I needed that size. For each his own.
