is it worth buying Samsung Note Pro 12.2 in 2016 or early 2017?

I'm using a Gen 1 Note 10.1 (released when, in 2012?), every day at work. For the most part it works great, but I get some lag using certain apps. I thought the Note Pro 12.2 would be a perfect replacement, but it's nearly as old as my current device. I really don't want to go with a Surface (or knockoff), since I've got a lot of great apps on my Android. I was amazed that Samsung, or anybody else, doesn't offer a new device exactly like the Pro 12.2 anymore. The Tab S3 would be great, if it wasn't an even smaller screen than what I have now. But of course, since any used Pro 12.2 is $350 or less, I guess it wouldn't be a huge loss if I didn't like it.

Right now the Pixelbook has my attention due to my affection for android apps as well. Costs are high though. Agree on the Tab S3 as well, I'm not looking for a smaller form factor and the only significant change i would anticipate would be speed which leaves me questioning whether or not I would be satisfied with the purchase.

If your 10.1 is slow you're right in expectation that the note pro 12.2 will be equally so. Others may not think so but side by side with a current flagship phone there's no denying it.

I know the Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 was released in 2014.
-Is it worth buying in late 2016 or early 2017?
-brand new or factory refurbished?

Thanks

After three years, one set of aftermarket repairs and continued charging issues (figured out) we still love the 12.2. We use MS Office including Outlook for GMAIL and to connect to an exchange server. Storage is good, SD slot is great. If you've never used other newer Tablets you'll not notice that it is a lot slower (but not agonizingly slow) than newer tablets. The real draw is the size of the screen for spreadsheets and Netflix-HULU-Amazon-cable channels. If it were to go south I'd try to find a reasonably priced used one. If none out there, I'll sorrowfully opt for a new Android tablet with a great 10" screen. The smaller screen will be offset by the better performance.

So what's more important to YOU? Screen size with good performance and lower price? Or newest, fastest technology with smaller screen?

Screen size and speed. After watching Google effectively let Android tablets die on the vine in favor of Chrome OS with Android support I've decided to jump ship and ordered a 12.9 inch iPad Pro. It's not just Google though - for what I want to do the applications are just looking better on iPad pro with pencil than on Chromebooks or Android. From PDF editing to office applications. Microsoft Office for example has marginally more features on an iPad than on Android. The additional development being put into iOS apps makes a difference at the end of the day. For a time I thought about a Chromebook and using office 365 online since I already have an account but there too there are some compromises in features, it's really odd what MS chooses to support in apps like word or OneNote between platforms. Not sure yet what I will do with this Note Pro. Maybe just YouTube watching or something. Web browsing is just getting irritatingly slow when I jump back and forth between this and my Pixel XL.
