Is it worth getting a Note 5 now?

I had the Note 2 and I absolutely loved it. I currently have the Note 3 and I have had it for over 2 years. It has been a great phone, but after I broke my internal antenna I am in need of a new phone because I literally drop every call. The Note 5 or the S6 Edge+ look awesome, but I am a little reserved because in the next couple months or so new phones will be released. Is it still worth it to get the Note 5 (or S6 Edge+) or should I wait for something like the LG G5 or Sony Xperia Z 5 Ultra?

If you own a Note 5, can you answer a few questions?

How much better is it than the Note 3?

How good is the battery life and call quality?

I know it has good performance, but I have heard it can lag... is this true?

Last, but not least, is it worth getting now, or should I just wait for the next Android flagship device? (rumors say the LG G5 will be released late fall early winter)

I doubt the LG G5 will release the fall. As far as is the Note 5 worth it, it seems as it would be You you because your current smartphone doesn't appear to be working properly. It's going to be better than the Note 3 in every way. Ultimately its your call.

If I was in your situation with a phone that was dropping calls, I would go with either the new nexus or note 5. I'm personally not a fan of LG's phones but I know that's all personal preference. The note 5 is definitely an upgrade over the note 3.

The Note 5 is one of the phones at the tippy top. It comes down to the features you want. I highly recommend it though

Personally, both the Note 5 and the S6 include 2 deal breakers for me - no external SD card and no removable battery.

Modular phones are starting to appear. If I were looking for a new one, I'd wait and see who comes out with what.

I have always had iphone since the 4s then I tried the Samsung s3 for a week then loved it so I got the note 3 and had it for 2 years and loved it was great and now I have the note 5 i chose the note 5 over the s6 edge + because of the pen and it's good but it sorta feels like an upgrade and downgrade compared to the note 3 because of the ir blaster sd card but there are also a lot of software features missing.
1. The screen is the same size but the phone itself is smaller you will notice it's thinner shorter and narrower.
2. My note 3 went through a whole day easily and and a lot of days went half way through the next day. But my note 5 barely gets through a day which is disappointing cause samsung has always had good battery's. But i new its battery was bad before i got it About 3 and 1/2 screen on time I get on note 5.
3. With my note everyday I'll experience like 3 lags and apps stopping but with the note it's like 3 a week which is better.
I personally would still get the note 5 if I could go back and I think you should

What for do you need a removable battery? This thing charges superfast + lasts a whole day.

I have found the even numbers like the Note 2 and Note 4 seem to be upgrades over the odd numbers. Not having the SD slot is a deal breaker. I love my Note 4 and I have family members that have the Note 5, I don't feel that the 5 is that great of an upgrade. Going from the Note 2 to the Note 5 will be a huge upgrade

How much better is it than the Note 3?

How good is the battery life and call quality?

It is significantly better than the Note 3. I had the Note 3 for about a year, then I too started experiencing dropped calls and signal so bad I couldn't even send text messages. I sold it and swore I'd never get another Samsung phone because of the problems I had. So I went with the LG G3, which I really enjoyed, that is until I saw the Note 5. The design and build quality is gorgeous. The phone just really feels great in your hand. I always thought removable battery and storage were important to me, until I realized I've never once swapped out a battery (and let's be honest, you probably haven't either) and between my 32GB G3 and 32GB SD card I had plenty of space left even with a couple thousand pictures and videos and about a thousand songs. Went with the 64GB Note 5, which is plenty big enough for probably 98% of customers. The software improvements are pretty substantial compared to the Note 3 as well. The SPen features are great and the new version of touchwiz with the addition of themes provide a much better user experience than the Note 3.

Battery life has been solid for me, easily getting me through a day with about 30% battery left. I typically average about 4 hours of screen on time, am on WiFi at home and my office, have a good signal everywhere. Call quality is great, I haven't dropped a call or had any other problems.

Performance is great, the thing is incredibly fast and handles everything I throw at it without a hitch. I haven't noticed any lag whatsoever.

It is definitely worth getting now, it is still very early in its life cycle. If you want to stay with the Note you're going to need to wait 9-10 months for the Note 6, so based on that it seems like a great time to get the Note 5. As for the competitors, I'm sure you ahead know, obviously none of them have the Spen. I think this is probably it for major phone releases until the spring. The LG G5 probably won't be seen until the summer as that would be consistent with the G3 and G4 launch, not to mention they just dropped the V10.

At this point, the Note 5 is probably the best phone you can buy. It's got the best screen and camera on the market, the unrivaled features of the Spen, and it just looks better than anything else out there right now.

Camera, screen resolution, fingerprint scanner are improvements over the Note 3. I was not happy with the Note 3's camera in lower light.

Is it better than the 3? Absolutely by leaps and bounds.

Battery life is excellent with a few tweaks and call quality on AT&T is superb.

I have seen no lag on mine, but others have with a dozen or so apps opened and trying to play intensive games or doing endless looped benchmarks.

Hard to say wither you should get one or wait since there will always be something new coming out soon... But the phone is just about perfect for me and I wouldn't be remiss if I didn't say it is the best Android phone I have ever owned...

If you loved your note 3 you'll really will love the 5 even more.

I do......

There are always new phones on the horizon, rumors of the Note 97 are already being written. :p
If you need a new phone and you like your present Note you will be in heaven with the Note 5. I have had mine since the first day they were available on Verizon. It is an incredible device. With cloud service and micro-sized storage devices that plug directly into the phone the lack of removable memory is a non-issue IMO. In addition, the internal memory is much, much faster than any microSD card. The battery issue is an issue with every phone by every manufacturer if you listen to the self proclaimed critics. I get 16 hrs. of use under my normal use and still have at least 30% of the battery left. With built-in wireless charging with either of the 2 wireless charging standards used in the US, laying the phone on a charging pad when you are at your desk or watching TV makes it easy to keep your phone charge topped off.

Much better than the note 3

Battery life is much better

Performance is good. It does have some lag but so does every other Android that I have owned.

Of course if you wish to wait then something better will come out.

I've had every Note made and the Note 5 is the best one made. My battery is as good or better than my Note 4 and I don't miss the SD card at all, I have always had everything on the cloud anyway.

In the next couple of days I will be getting my Note 5- I am really excited and I can't wait!

Up until a couple weeks ago, I didn't want a Note 5 though my S4 was getting very long in the tooth. I liked the Note 5 when I saw it at the VZ store but the sealed battery kind of got to me.

Received notice that Verizon was increasing my UDP and I began to make some calls and sent in a few emails to the company.

Got a call from a VZ AD and he made me an offer... based on my many years' loyalty and... I couldn't refuse.

He said keep the UDP , pay the increase and I'll give you one half off the cost of the phone. Or... change to a tiered plan and I'll still give you half off.

Thought about it... ordered the 64GB Note 5, ordered an extended Anker high speed battery and charger for travel and car... and changed plan to 12GB.

Got assurances if battery degrades, either warranty or extended warranty later, VZ will over nite me a replacement phone. VZ also gave me another eighty bucks credit... went towards Note 5 accessiries.

Took some time to get protocols worked out in transitioning to Note 5 but I can unequivocally say...

THIS NOTE 5 ROCKS!

Fast, powerful, great display and I love the thinner width.

I'm very impressed!

Note 5 is a top tier phone and will be for the foreseeable future. The Note 5 is a definite upgrade to the Note 3, not so much the Note 4 and that's only because the Note 4 is a great device and still holds its own against anything.

Luckily, my note 3 still works great. If it were to be broken some day, I would go for another note 3, or a note 4. Another Note 3 may be preferred, so I can use all the battery I have right now, and probably significantly cheaper.

My requirements are:

1. AMOLED screen with 300+ ppi
2. removable battery
3. microSD

I just called in to see what they were willing to offer me as a 14-year customer. The best he could offer was to lock in my contract for another year. I will try again tomorrow.
