Is it worth going from a Nexus S to a Nexus 4?

Hi there, I'm wondering whether or not I should upgrade my Nexus S to the N4 or if I should just hold off until the next Nexus or Google I/O 2013. I got my Nexux S in August 2012 (used)

At first it may sound silly, but I'm not really sure if there's much point to me upgrading at the moment. I'm a high school student and will starting be university in September. I mostly use my phone for school related stuff (calendar, email, sometimes a graphing calculator), followed by reading gadget blogs (Engadget, The Verge, Flipboard) and also to text and sometimes call friends. The battery life and processor aren't as good as more modern phones so i purposely refrain from gaming and too much music. I recently learned about rooting and yesterday when I used a new ROM ( and did some tweeking) i got over 9 hours as opposed to my usual 6.5hrs. Other than battery life though the custom rom is running 4.2.1 and the only two things I'm missing that the N4 has is photo sphere and built in swipe capabilities.

I'm really not sure if it's worth the upgrade though. My friend has the nexus 4 and the larger screen is nice and all, but I don't feel I'm missing out on anything (from the few minutes I used it) . When it comes to games that I can actually run efficiently, they either load up at the same time or my nexus s will load up 3 seconds later. I can't do any 3D gaming though. Other than what I've mentioned I'm fairly pleased with my current phone, but then again, I am sacrificing extended gaming and music but by no means do I think I have a "crappy" phone.

What would you recommend? I'm a just being stingy and I should take the plunge?

It doesn't sound like you even want a phone right now. Because of how much money you'll be spending on a new device, and you don't seem too excited about the N4, you might as well wait and see what Google has planned towards the end of the year if / when they will announce a new Nexus phone.

Unless you run into a wall with something you absolutely have to get done with a phone - no need to upgrade. Now, if you simply have money itching in your pocket... by all means. :D

Since u still in high school I'll say upgrade. Everything is more data extencive now days and only if u are just planning on making simple things like calling texting I'll say get the n4 bro.

hmmm... how do you use it??? i think you got use to slow UI ! Because i upgraded from Galaxy Nexus 4.2.2 to N4 and it's like i got wings now!!! Gnex is still pretty fast and smooth phone but N4 blows it away even with my modest usage( not playing games or heavy multitasking) don't even watch youtube on n4!

and btw you're in highschool ! if you've got a job then don't be like a thrifty person just spend on things you're enjoy and go nuts while you can cuz Your future wife is gonna eat you dreams! LOL

Maybe he's saying if you always carry around a backpack you can manage a small tablet easily - and then can use it for much more than a phone too. ???

Lol, you do have a point about being used to the lag. i tried playing Vector and it was horrible. i am working and so money isn't a problem. how's the battery life? some reviews have said its rather poor

Ah - yeah - tablet would just be a luxury then.

If I didn't have either tablet or laptop - I'd get the N4 and then also get a mini projector, bluetooth keyboard and mouse and have the full bang setup just from the phone alone! - which could include slingbox tv from the rents and full blown big screen movie theater. :D
