I really need some advise, I was thinking on getting the Nexus 9 but is it worth the hassle? I have the Nexus 7 since it came out and never had problems. What do you think? Thanks in advance.

I jumped straight from the Nexus 7 2012 to the N 9 when it came out. I really haven't had any regrets and now that 5.1.1 has been released it is a truely great tablet.
that being said a lot of people are reporting problems from the jump to 5. 1. 1 so it is an issue at the moment in some cases. and the build quality issues caused a lot of unhappy consumers.
I'm sure you could get a killer deal right now on eBay if you wanted to chance a used one.
Just keep the build issues in mind & the issue with the 5.1.1 ota not taking in some cases.
Its a Very iffy game at the moment...
if you're going to buy a new make sure to buy from somewhere with a Great exchange policy just in case ;)

If your nexus 7 works just fine, I'd recommend you stick with it. I say this not because the nexus 9 is inferior or anything, but if you just want to get the nexus 9 to have the latest Google tablet and not because you need it or you think it has better features, save yourself the hassle of switching tablets and enjoy the one you have. :)

I upgraded from a 2012 Nexus 7, I would have kept the N7 but it was getting incredibly slow. I really only read on my tablet, but it was getting old having to wait 1 or 2 seconds every time I hit next page on the E-Reader. I think if I had a 2nd gen N7 I would have stuck with it though, the only real reason to upgrade would be if you absolutely needed the bigger screen.

Well... I did had the N7 (2012) and then sold it to get the Nexus 7 (2013) when it came out. To be honest, I do love my N7 (2013) I have no trouble with it, its super fast and very reliable. I use it mostly for the game consoles companion apps. (ex. COD, AC, BFH etc) and other things of course. I kind of like the idea of a bigger screen, but I don't want to sacrifice reliability just to have a bit bigger screen. Thanks all for your advice.

It's a tough choice, but if you don't need the extra screen size, I say keep the N7 until it quits. The 2nd Gen N7 is such an awesome little device.

I had both myself and had problems with both tablets. In fact, my N7 2013 had several issues including touch sensitivity and screen rotation. I had/have a few issues with my N9 but nothing as serious as the N7. Personally, I think you will be happy with the N9.

After the honeymoon phase with my N9 was over, it's been all downhill from there. Even after 5.1.1 I'm still unimpressed. The tablet seems slightly snappier after the update, but it's still not running like a tablet at this price point should. I was showing my kid a website on her G1 iPad, and it actually ran noticeably smoother than my N9. I was pretty stunned, to say the least.

Hold on to that N7 until it's dead dead dead, then get anything besides the N9.

Yeah I love my N9, it really is the first tablet I actually use daily - had a N7, Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1, N7 (2nd Gen) ... However that said, if I did not already have one I would wait until the next Nexus tablet (and there's still a little piece of me that can't wait for the next one hoping its better than the N9)

If you do get one and don't mind the retail price point buy it from Google to make returns or RMAs easier. DO NOT BUY from amazon ... I've seen too many people get N9s and other crap from amazon that was refurbished or open box.

If you want to get a discount and are a "power user" and don't mind flashing or side loading etc ... Go on eBay and you can get one for under $300 easily now.

Otherwise get it directly from Google, the piece of mind given the more than intermittent bricking and update issues is worth it. If you do get one, before doing anything install 5.0.2 and 5.1.1 before customizing it.

I have both generations of the Nexus 7. The Nexus 9 is far superior. I use it primarily for my Kindle library and media consumption. My most used device is my Microsoft Surface Pro 3 used for my work and Photoshop CC / Lightroom CC. My Nexus 9 gets plenty of use for its purpose and I like it a lot. My N9 build quality is superb and the screen is stunningly perfect. Both my wife and I got our perfect N9's from Amazon.

I was not impressed with my nexus 9. It had poor build quality. Screen bleed the full length of the top. Also it got hot

I ended up sending it back. I got an iPad Air 2, but may replace that with a surface pro 4.

I still have and use the nexus 7 2013

I've just got a Nexus 9 having previously had a 7 (2013), the 9 is better in every way. It's not a contest unless you really want the smaller screen.

I agree. My Nexus 9 is superior to my Nexus 7 in every way. The build quality on my Nexus 9 is superb. The screen is stunningly perfect. I much prefer the larger screen.

And the excellence of mine isn't a fluke. My wife liked mine and wanted one too. Hers is identically perfect.

I'd upgrade from the Nexus 7 to the Nexus 9 in a heartbeat.

I also have a Nexus 6 phone and a Microsoft Surface Pro 3. It just doesn't get any better than this.

Just never really liked the form factor of the 7. Too small, too narrow. Now the 5.1.1 update to it bricked it and I've given up trying to get it back up and running. Can't connect to the tablet in Fastboot.

Nexus 9 is a good tablet. Decided to really dive in and install M Preview 2. I removed the encryption. Now THIS is a great tablet!

Good luck with your choice.

Im having this issue now. I am unsure of which tablet to upgrade to, i've seen mixed reviews on the nexus 9
