Is LG V30 the best camera smartphone?

The camera software for HDR/low shots is terrible compared to Google. Simply use the Pixel software downloaded off XDA and its might possibly be the best camera. I've tested over 100 shots using tripod with me V20, and blown up full size, and the google samples have nearly twice the clarity when zoomed. All because of software.

90% of photo quality is software related these days, as so many use the same parts and processors.

Totally agree. The low light doesn't seem to get better, at least from what I tested but the clarity is def a upgrade.

& related to the V30 HDR, man it's horrible. The exact opposite of the HDR I used for the 6p. Def wouldn't mind banishing the V30's HDR

As others have said. I think it depends on the type of device you had previously. I have always loved the pictures LG phones capture and get comments on how amazing they are. I have the V30+ and it comes with 128 GBs. You definitely need it with the high resolution, UHD 4K picture and video capability, not to mention the Audio Recording using the built in HD Audio recorder provides 24 bit 192MHZ. The camera has all sorts of features that you can see in context. For example the filters- you can see exactly what it will look like in any of the filters all at the same time. Oh and the Grid shot is a collage you can create as you take the picture and then you can share, right from the grid, to multiple social media platforms. I used both of these the day I activated it, at a concert. So cool. It also has 360 Panoramic and a program called Graphy that you download from Google Play, for free. With Graphy you select an example of a picture you like and the camera settings change to what the photographer used to take the photo. The Graphy lense is only available with the V30. I'm a bit long winded but love it!!!

Is LG V30 the best camera smartphone?

Subjective. Everyone will have their preference. But I will say this though, LG is the only one with wide angle lens. To those that say it's useless, they never had a wide angle before so they don't know. The wide angle is awesome and you can fit much more into a picture. Honestly, all smartphones are great nowadays. Some might be better than others, but for the average untrained eye, they look pretty much similar.

BTW the guy in the YouTube video is obviously biased, you can clearly see the V30 looks better in some shots.

Wow you weren't kidding when you said that the dude is biased.

On topic, I suppose most posters here are using auto mode (what most people use) and use that particular mode to judge the V30's camera performance, which is a fair point, but to say that V30 has bad camera(s) is a bit misleading since using manual mode it is by far the best camera phone so far (just ask anyone in this thread:https://forums.androidcentral.com/lg-v30/838358-show-off-your-pictures-taken-your-v30.html). So yeah, subjective, like what @flyingkytez said. And most of the issues that people here pointed out have to do with the camera software, not the hardware, so I think that it will be improved on later updates.

V30 camera is definitely the best one LG has ever put in a smartphone. If you like LG phones and the camera is important, get the V30.
