Is life as an Android user always going to be this bad?

I have asked this in google forums but NASA (Never A Straight Answer).
I currently use THREE different browsers because none of them will do all jobs.
Chrome still say they cannot fix having desktop versions of webpages permanently. Bookmarks are in a text only format with first entered ie favourites at the bottom of the list. In fact, chrome was the last of these browsers to allow video playback!
Puffin has random days when it won't recognise button pushes.
UCBrowser, a former favourite, has so many crashes it's unreal.
I have tried Dolphin, Firefox and others I forget their names in the past.

My question is, will android life always be like this? It's as if every time a browser seems to have got it right they or Android brings out an 'upgrade' and everything goes wrong.
Kitkat was the worst example. I don't think things have ever been right since that was foisted on us.

All the tablets boast of the bells and whistles they come with but none of them seem capable of all the basics. I simply want to browse without pages lagging while they load, or jumping up and down just as I am about to type - we're not in the dial-up era anymore.

Just this second, I went to scroll this page and it skipped to the homepage. It's lucky you have the autosave feature.

I am just getting the money together to go to an ipad or, god forbid, a windows tablet unless someone can convince Android will one day get its act together

HERE'S A PERFECT EXAMPLE: JUST WROTE THIS OUT IN PUFFIN BROWSER, CLICKED TO SUBMIT AND NOTHING HAPPENED. LUCKILY I COPIED THE MESSAGE AND AM NOW IN CHROME BROWSER JUST TO POST THE QUESTION.

I sympathise with some of what you are saying. The updates over the years have had their spotty moments, and browsing on devices leaves something to be desired at times. It's great because it is convenient when you're running around but it just doesn't take the place of a PC or laptop. However, I challenge you to find an example of an iOS browser that will do everything. Opera falls way short compared to Google browser. As for OS, I again admit that some of the updates Google pushes out are not perfect but neither are Apple's. You don't have to go back that far for an example of that look at iOS 8. I'm not sure anyone will be able to absolutely assure you that Android will improve, and it sounds as though you may have already set out on a track, but I will say that even with its problems Android is the number 1 OS for a reason.

Thanks vidjunky. I appreciate no device can be perfect but surely asking for a trouble-free browser isn't too much to ask. I admit I haven't used an ipad before but I don't recall browsing being mentioned as an issue by friends.

Given the number of years mobile devices have been kicking around now, you'd think that someone would have gotten a handle on how to do a decent, familiar, stable browser by now, but they are all, without question, lacking. Badly.

Chrome, Safari and Firefox look, act (and react) nothing like their 'real' versions, while lesser known browsers are interesting, but are often just as frustrating. Meanwhile, the long-held phobia about Flash and the insistence that HTML 5 will take over has been in place with nothing sorted for too long - and mobile users are stuck with disabled websites in iOS or Android.

Then again, I guess if the mobile experience was too good, then folks would use these OSs for real work currently dedicated to more expensive notebooks and the like - and I can't envision the manufacturers happy about that.
