AC Question

I started to notice my built in browser, not chrome, going to some random website I've never heard of before. It became a homepage website for each new tab I opened, and I've changed it back to google 4 times already.

It's called Portal.fly2tech. I've never seen, been or heard of them before and it's sketchy looking. They have a twitter that has never been posted on and a facebook that seems dead...that's all I can find about them. It just randomly started happening one day!!

I've got an Alcatel OneTouch and it's all up to current update. I've deleted my phone cache browser cache and nothing helps. Gonna try a factory reset to see...but I don't see what good it'll do. What should I do if it is?? I really need help because I don't want it to become a bigger issue, I haven't even had my phone for half a year.

I have exactly the same problem, that weird page Portal.fly2tech appeared one day in the default browser and became the homepage from time to time. I tried some malware apps and got no results, so I don't know what to do to get rid of it :(

Oh, I have an Alcatel OneTouch, by the way.

Uninstall update to com.android.partnerbrowsercustimzations.example, click yes to revert system app should take care of problem, but it looks like they keep pushing the update, they have also updated system updater app, so go into settins for updates and turn off automatic updates to system and system apps

Sadly, I'm not able to do that! Instead everything is grey and I can't even clear the cache for com.android.partnerbrowsercustimzations.example.

I updated my system last night too..

Oh my bad, I thought I said I did! It was late when I posted this...

But I did do that and it did nothing, even cleared the in app data (or so I think because it never ave me a confirmation, just acted as though it wouldn't acknowledge it). Even the complete reset didn't help.

I might end up taking it to a store to have it looked at, because I can't figure it out...and if that doesn't work, buy a new phone. I would get the adblock app if it didn't suck and I've heard it doesn't even work. Ads anymore are laced with crap and the pop-up blockers don't even do their job right, especially on chrome. UGH.

SOLUTION:
Ive noticed this happens on one touch acatel phones
So 1st you want change your homepage back to what you want
Then close all open pages:
1) go in to setting> apps > Browser (internet) > Disable

2) go in to setting> apps > Browser (internet) > storage > click clear data & clear cache

3) go back and enable browser app

4) open internet browser to check if see if its still on same homescreen

That doesn't work for me, my built-in browser can't be disabled, it won't let me. It's just grayed out. Is there even a way to be able to disable it even though my phone has that option as a non-working option (because seriously, it's grayed out like it's not available to do)?

I've already done the whole force stop, clear app data/cache and go into the app to see if it fixed the problem..it doesn't work. I think it's a rooted issue.

Thansk Crisco501! That resolved this on my phone.

I know that this thread is a few months old now, but does anyone know why this happened in the first place? I've had this portal.fly2tech crap become my start page as well as another page stating "welcome, to use wifi please select your internet provider" become my start page without me setting it up. I don't like it when any app alters anything without me being the one making the changes.

Were these the result of these changes being pushed from my provider or something else?
