Is My DInc giving up the ghost?

My Droid Incredible is about a month old and I have the following issues. I have tried looking some of this up but the recommendations were a bit hard to follow so I am on the hunt for some help.

Problem 1:
My Exchange mailbox started with this message as of Sunday (10/03/10) night:

"Sorry!
The application Mail (process com.htc.android.mail) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again."

Force Close (is the only button choice I get)

Problem 2:
It seems like my call quality has been getting progressively worse like some one played Music to loudly through the Phone speaker and now it is very scratchy/static-y.

Problem 3:
Occasionally (maybe once a week)the mobile Network (i.e. 3G) goes completely away and all of the requisite services with it. a restart of the phone fixes it but some times more than one restart is required.

the phone is on Android Version 2.2. which I loaded myself as opposed to waiting for the OTA update.

Any recommnedations on how to deal with these issues would be greatly appreciated. Do I need a new piece of hardware?

I would try a factory reset which will wipe all your data off the phone and if that doesn't work I would be taking it back to Verizon.

^^^ What he said. I had the same issues (after loading the update myself) and this cleared it up for me.

For your Call Quality issue, try this:

How to change the audio codec to EVRC-B:

Go to Phone and Dial ##778
Choose Edit Mode
Password is 000000
Go to CDMA Settings
Scroll all the way to bottom
Change Home Page, Home Orig, and Roam Orig from EVRC to EVRC-B
Hit Menu and Commit Changes
Phone reboots and no more muffled voice calls!

I definitely can tell there is a difference!

NOTE: Don't mess with other settings while you are in ##PROGRAM mode, this can make your phone unusable!

And you are dialing "##778"

That's wierd because I have done this to a number of DInc's and it always comes up with View Mode or Edit Mode selection window.

It wouldn't matter if I'm running a ROM right? Or a certain kernal?

Good question. I don't know off the top of my head.

I would think that since these are carrier settings that they would be the same between ROM's, but then again... the codes to get to the settings may be different.

Okay, so now I'm running a ROM with sense and am able to do the change. Interesting that I have to have sense to activate that.

I just did this on my rooted 2.2 and after reboot I dial a number and it connects and immediately disconnects. Changing it back now.

Give it another try, but do a *228 after to update the Roaming Table.

This works in most areas but if your towers have old nodes on them then sticking with the EVRC-A might be better.

Factory Reset

If I do a factory reset How do I get all of my apps and data reloaded. I use Astro to back up my apps to my SD card, but once I reset how do I get Astro back up and running to restore everything. Should I just download it again (I use the free version) and start from there?

Thanks for the help.
