Hi All, sorry this is a fairly long post.
i recently "Upgraded" my SM-P605 to Android 9 and it has been working fine.
i have, however, been experiencing connectivity issue with file transfer via USB.
i have tried several cables (3 Genuine) including a brand new "Generic" cable and keep getting the "device descriptor request failed" error.
i have also tried multiple PC's, loaded all recommended Samsung drivers and finally relented and replaced the USB port in the tablet itself, which still did not fix the problem.
Convinced after all of this it must be software related, i then decided to re-install and earlier version of Android which i copied over to the Tablet's internal memory.
I logged into TWRP and wiped the tablet ready to reinstall Android 7. and when i tried it says the zip file is corrupted.

I now have a tablet that wont load the zip file I have, wont read from an SD card in the tablet or OTG (via TWRP) and is unable to connect to a PC via a USB cable..

if anyone could offer any suggestions i would be extremely grateful as I don't want to "Dump" this tablet as i use it daily for work..

Hi mustang7757, thanks for the reply..

it is my tablet and i use it at work not for work... i find it easier to carry than my laptop and easier to read than my phone... i keep a lot of info in "OneNote" and also use the note feature to transfer back to my PC...

when i turn it on the only options i get are
1/ pressing power and volume down to boot into "Recovery Mode"
2/ pressing power only just goes to the "Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1" screen and goes no further..

you made a couple of mistakes. first of all your tablet does not support android 9. it will not have the proper drivers for the hardware. second you replaced the usb port when it did not need to be replace. hopefully it was replaced by someone who knows what they were doing.

are you able to get into recovery mode? anyway, if possible, you need to install the original software for that specific tablet. you also might want to check out the xda forums since they are the experts.

You still have TWRP installed?

me just saying i replaced it and it was basically "Plug and Play" (no Soldering).
Yes i can boot to recovery mode but dont seem to be able to get a file to my tablet. it cant see (??) the SD card and OTG is not working.
i have also posted on XDA but have had no responses

It's been awhile since I used TWRP
Let me see if @Rukbat is available he uses custom recovery more then I do and might know off hand

My educated guess is that the port still isn't completely connected. If you bought a new port (with cable attached, which you should have), make certain that the other end of the cable is fully connected.

If that doesn't fix the USB connection, I'd go for a new motherboard. (It's definitely hardware - with or without the proper firmware, the port should show something. Since the SD card isn't working either, my money is on the motherboard.)

Maybe a failed sd card ?

A failed SD card and a failed USB port at the same time? It's possible (and trivial to find out by plugging in another, especially a known-good, SD card, but the odds are a lot better that the common element, the motherboard, is to blame.

True , thanks for input as always.

Musatang7757 and Rukbat, as it turns out i have tried another SD card and was able to (sort of) access the Card.. however the battery needed to be charged so i wanted to do that first before reflashig.
So i plugged the charger in and just got a static Battery with Lightning bolt symbol so i left it to charge.
i came back about 2 - 3 hours later and the battery symbol is now just randomly flashing, my thoughts now are this tab is really toasted.
i cant thank you guys enough for the help and suggestions offered and i am now on the lookout for a good second hand one as i like this tab and have heaps of accessories etc.
