Is my Moto Z Play on AT&T capped at 150 Mbps on Wifi?

[Android Central Question]

Setting up my new Fiber AT&T Internet service I consistently get connected speeds of near 1000 Mbps. But when testing my Moto Z Play on wifi I could seldom get 150Mbps. The technician had an iPhone and exceeded that by far, around 300 Mbps. Is this a phone limitation or does anyone have any interesting input on this as to how to troubleshoot this?

Welcome to Android Central! What kind of router do you have? Is it 802.11n or 802.11ac? If it's 802.11n, is it dual band (i.e., 2.4/5 GHz)? If you were connecting via 2.4 GHz and the technician was connecting via 5 GHz, that might explain the difference.
