I got my new nexus 4 Monday did all the updates , stock not rooted etc
Sometimes when i play games on my phone (shadowgun,zombiwood,MC4) and i push the button on screen to go back to my phone home screen it sometimes just freezes my phone and only solution is to force restart my phone by holding the power button .
Phone is very fast and i like how good the performance is but those freezes...
What should i do ?

When the screen freezes try holding the volume button DOWN for 10 seconds. If it continues on a regular basis then you should call Google CS for assistance. I don't know what would causes it to freeze.

Thanks for your replay
Just tested your solution but it just made my screen go black and my phone dident respond do any buttons and needed to restart my phone again .
Might it be apps fault ?

Remove the games you were playing... add one.. play it and see what happens. Do this for each game app.

Thanks for your replay

If this only happens when you are playing certain games, I doubt that it has anything to do with your phone. It sounds like a software problem with the games. Maybe they are poorly written, maybe they haven't had their code base updated in a while. You could try installing logcat and the next time it happens, email the logs to whoever the developer is.

Thanks for replay i have another question now , is it normal that my phone gets realy hot when running games and i think the battery is droping even more faster when it gets hot . With my phone fully charged i can play like max 1h30mins and its like 5 % left and phone is like realy hot.

Yeah playing games constantly will drain the battery faster than anything else. I'm not sure how fast and I can't attest to your's draining in an hour and a half. But, if you were playing non stop for that long on a high graphics intensive game, it could be possible.

Oh and it's not uncommon for the back of the phone to get really warm. That's the battery warming up as it's discharging at a very fast rate.

hmm . I dont know know , should i go and swap my phone for note 2 because the overheating and the short battery life are big problems for me .
Yesterday i played shadowgun like 45 mins and screen freezed for like 30 sec and after the screen unfreezed my game graphics starts to show big pixel squares on screen and and i needed to reboot my phone to get it fixed . I actually realy like nexus 4 performance on games but i can play like for 30 min normal then it starts to overheating so its not comfortable to hold it in you hands and in like 1h i can see how mobile performance is starting to lower and slight lag comes around and battery draining like 10mins-18-20% battery life .
Should i swap my phone for note 2 ? or can u suggest any other phones what will give good performance in mobile gaming .

I have freezing issues while Google earth is running. It seems to happen when I'm tilting the map and zooming in/out. Happened three consecutive times. I too had to hold down the power button to reboot. Someone suggested that I re-download the app. I tried that but was unable to completely uninstall it.

I have had issues with mine freezing up as well. it has frozen on the home screen, and even just on the lock screen. it has frozen 4-5 since i got it yesterday. i changed my background from a living one to a pic to see if that helps...

I have searched and i like the new sony xperia Z its the same spec as nexus 4 and slightly bigger screen then nexus 4 whats a + for me but i made a research about xperia z overheating and it seems this phone is overheating aswell like my nexus 4 and thats becouse the glass back .
I dont know what to do now :(

Think about it - they jammed a 1.5ghz quad core processor with 2gb of ram into a relatively small device and somehow slammed a 2100mAh battery into the same package. Of course when you're balls to the wall on a game or any sustained activity that requires heavy system resources it is going to get warm, even hot. There is no way around this, at least with the battery technology currently available to consumers (or even in existence for all I know). Any smart phone with these specs would do this. Why, you may ask? Because there is no way for the battery to dissipate heat - unlike a laptop or PC, your smartphone does not have a fan attached to it to vent heat. It's a wonder they managed to keep the heat down to a level that doesn't burn your hands. I apologize if I come off as being rude, but I can't help but be fascinated by how people seem surprised by their extremely powerful smartphones becoming warm when in use.

To answer your question more specifically: If you're looking for a phone that will be able to do what you are describing without getting warm, I believe that is an unrealistic request. You may be able to find a phone that has longer battery life than this one but it will still get just as warm. I would advise keeping it plugged in while playing, or putting it in airplane mode and dimming screen if you absolutely must play for hours on end. Hope this helps.

Charging generates heat so keeping it plugged in is NOT what you want to do...
