Is new pixel device meant to turn on automatically upon charge?

Hi all,

I've recently upgraded from a Samsung S21+ to a Google Pixel 9.

Upon plugging it in to charge it for the first time, it automatically started up.

Is this normal? I'm concerned my device may have been tampered with.

I think that all phones do, don’t they? Though, I dimly recall some old ones that possibly didn’t, without remembering what they were. Certainly all the phones that I’ve had in recent years have done that.

I think it's that's if it's factory-reset/new (low-level firmware setting), otherwise it just displays the % charge, when you plug/unplug most recent Android devices (phones, tablets, etc.)?
