Is Nexus 9 compatible with Turbo Charger like Nexus 6?

I have seen Nexus 9 official page but there is no concept of turbo charging specifically mentioned there. So I have doubt that is it compatible with turbo charger or support faster charging with high capacity based USB charger?

If the charger output current (the A or mA part) is at least as much as the original charger of the 9, there won't be a problem - the phone will only draw as much as it's designed to draw. If the number is less it'll work, but it'll take longer to charge. (Your 100 Watt light bulb - which draws about 1 Amp - is connected to a "charger" - the power coming into your house - with at least 200 Amps, but it still only draws 1 Amp. Connect it to a 1/2 Amp supply and it'll glow a kind of dull red, because it's not getting enough current. But it won't draw too much current from a larger supply source.)

I regularly charge phones from a 5 volt, 100 Amp supply (or a few others that supply somewhat less current) with no problem. As long as the 5 Volts (or 5.2 Volts - it won't make a difference) is there, it's fine. If you try charging a phone from a charger that has a 12 Volt output, you'll have a problem.

The Turbo charger is unique to Motorola devices (Droid Turbo, Nexus 6, Moto X), but it uses Qualcomm® Quick Charge™ technology. HTC also uses this technology in their fast charger and calls it "Rapid Charge". The Rapid Charger looks like the unit that comes with the Nexus 9, but the HTC site, HTC RAPID CHARGER 2.0 Specs and Reviews | HTC United States, only mentions the M8 and Desire. Maybe some brave soul with an Rapid Charger (or even a Moto Turbo Charger) and a Nexus 9 can give it a try.

It would be an interesting experiment. It might not have much of an effect (The Droid Turbo charger is 1.6 A @ 5V. The charger that comes with the Nexus 9 is 1.5A @ 5V.), but it would be interesting to know if anything changes.

FWIW, I have a droid turbo and the Turbo charger does charge the phone fast. From 20% to 80% in 30 minutes on a 3900 mAH battery

I use my Motorola Turbo Charger on my N9 on a nightly basis while at work with no problems whatsoever. The tablet keeps things in check just fine.

Does it charge any faster than the charger that comes with the Nexus 9?

I don't know. Haven't used the Nexus charger yet.

the nexus 9 won't quick charge with the turbo charger. It has a different chip (Nvidia vs Qualcomm) that doesn't support quick charge. But sure the turbo charger will still charge it at a normal rate

I tried the turbo charger on my N9 and didn't notice a difference... it charges fine but definitely not fast like my N6.

I feel like my Motorola turbo charger is slower than the Nexus charger from the Play Store when charging the Nexus 9. I haven't performed any real tests, but that was my impression at least.

The Turbo charger that comes with the Moto Droid works fast by delivering 12 Volts to the phone for rapid charge. I use this same charger on a lot of other devices I have without issue. It must power up at 5V and then negotiate the 12 Volts if the device asks for it.

When I use it on my Nexus 10.1 or 9 it charges at 1.00 amp. I have a USB amp meter that you can connect between the device and charger. Get one on eBay, they are 10 bucks. I have never seen either device take more then 1.8 amps with the factory chargers.

You will see real fast that combinations of chargers and devices will take/deliver a wide range of power compared to each other, but the OEM charger always delivers the most. Lots of quality third party chargers will deliver the same amperage too.
