Specs for kindles. They're still not that great and the OS overlay still mars performance.

I am thou roughly pleased with Nexus 7. Jellybean OS is incredibly better than past releases. Battery lasts a long time and no bloatware. It has it"s issues but what doesn't? I agree wit previous comment that a lot of android device are made sluggish by the software, go with Samsung or Google products as they tend to be the snappiest and use less battery.

Holiday season tends to bring package deals like free case or stylus. Current tablets, exception to Apple, are more than less sold at a loss to compete wit Apple. I don't think any other quality tablet will hit prior to the holidays this year.

If you need/want a tablet, now's probably the right time to dive in. If your favourite store is about to have a sale, that might be a different story.

Most of the major brands will have new models out by now, or in the next few weeks, in time for the Christmas rush. Earlier models will probably be discounted as retailers and manufacturers clear old inventory.
