Android Central Question

Just discovered my s7 Edge cant connect with my Jeep Compass to run Android Auto. Tried several certified Samsung cords, even took it to the dealer thinking something was wrong with the vehicle. Never thought that it wasn't compatible. I mean it's 2018 how this be happening?
The dealer of course, was able to connect Apple phones and a Samsung Note so of course, we all expected my s7 Edge to do the same.

Anyway, want to get the s9+ but I guess not if it will have same issue. I am used to talk texting while driving as I did in my 2015 Cherokee and expected to have that ability via Android Auto.

Having just received my s9+, and having used an S8 with no issues for over a year using the same car, cable etc- I have not been able to keep Android Auto running for more than 12 minutes with it blowing out and I can't restart it. I'm trying debug mode / forcing the usb connection to "transfer files", different cables, uninstalling and re-installing AA. T-mobile rep its a problem with Oreo that ships with the S9s.

But if you value this- I'd stay away for now. John

I have the exact same issue, coming from T-Mobile Samsung S7 I never had a problem with my car and Android Auto but now with my new shiny S9+ it can't connect. I tried 3 different USB-C cables and re-installing AA, cleaning cache, etc. to no avail. I read somewhere that Oreo 8.0 might be the culprit and it was fixed with Oreo 8.1. Unfortunately my S9+ comes with Oreo 8.0.
