Is that just me or Verizon is playing games?

First, VZW said it would be released Q1, no specific dates -- we all made that up.
Second, if the phone had been released this week or last week, you'd be happy, but one month or less later will make you feel that the phone is outdated?
Third, some should be glad they waited to release it so people could see what would be available later in the year as evidenced by MWC.

People get so attached to these devices, it's like sports teams. They "win" by having the "latest and greatest" and get upset when they don't think their device will fit that image for very long. That's one reason why android and apple fanboys are always insulting each other, they think that it makes them a cooler or better person by having a superior phone, which is just silly.

Well and because of the "delay" (notice that's in quotes) I've actually grown to like the Thunderbolt more and I've come to the conclusion that I'll probably get it and if something a WHOLE lot better and I mean a WHOLE lot better comes out by the end of the year or the beginning of next year, I'll just use the upgrade from another line and give my mother the Thunderbolt.

Of course I am in a bit of an extraneous situation since I have a Storm 1, but I was honestly all about the Bionic and was actually thinking about waiting until the Bionic, but with all of the good arguments from people on here as to why they are taking the Thunderbolt instead of waiting on the Bionic, I'm now leaning heavily towards the Thunderbolt.

Honestly...
I hope all those who are now thinking of NOT buying the T Bolt don't buy it.
Simple reason...I'll get mine sooner.

Nothing you buy is the best and fastest for long.

Very true...which makes it very difficult (and expensive) for people like me who just can't resist having the latest gadgets.

With that being said, the Tbolt should have no problem standing up there with the best Verizon has to offer through the remainder of 2011. Just look at the Dinc and Evo's success.

To me it's more like AT&T is the one playing games. The Atrix is not a true 4G phone. They are pulling a T-Mobile after whining about T-Mobile calling their HSPA+ network 4G. All AT&T knows how to do is whine and then deceive even more than the original deceiver when nobody listens to their whining.

All of AT&T's commercials that say "America's fastest network is getting even faster with 4G" even have a diclaimer in fine print at the bottom that says "4G speeds will be delivered through HSPA+".

So to me, while Verizon may not seem like they have a game plan, they are in a lot better shape than AT&T. The fact that AT&T is starting to call their HSPA+ network 4G tells me that they are content with that for right now and their LTE network may be delayed. So if I were an AT&T customer, I would be more upset.

Hate to brake it to you but LTE isn't true 4G... That being said HSPA+ theoretically has the potential to blow 4G standards out of the watter... 4G is just a gimmick no provider takes it seriously, and if they did we would have mobile speeds 2-3 times the max limit of LTE/Wimax/HSPA+.

Theoretically LTE can as well. In fact the Verizon rep here admitted that LTE is capable of a lot more than even the 22 to 30 mbps that they've been getting on tests, but that the hardware isn't up to speed (no pun intended) yet. The 7-12 mbps quotes that they give is for a completely saturated network and he said they do that for a reason.

This is where Verizon is different than the others. If they really wanted to, Verizon could say 22-30 mbps speeds for their LTE network easily given all of the people that have been pulling those speeds on a regular basis, but they don't because they realize that once their LTE network is widespread more and more people will bring speeds down at least a little.

You are right, vzw never gave a specific date. However, that aside, I still think this whole thing has been handled poorly. There is about 6 weeks left in Q1, you mean vzw can't make an announcement by now as to when the device will be released? You mean vzw can't make an announcement about 4G pricing or hotspot pricing by now? i refuse to believe they don't plan at least 6 weeks ahead. I think they over estimated the demand for the iphone and under estimated the demand for the Tbolt.

Whatever day it launches i will be there money in hand, but it's just frustrating how it's been handled.

LTE has two phases. The LTE we're seeing now is essentially LTE without the "Long Term" portion of the term. Advanced LTE is what is really going to push the standard.

And you can't have the LT without the E. What we're seeing are the first steps towards the true 4G of LTE-advanced.

Actually, all Verizon stated was we could see the Thunderbolt "as early as March". With that, I'd say anything even saying "Q1" was speculation.
