Is the D2G still being made?

I just got my D2G and someone on this board said that it isnt made any longer due to the outing of the D-Pro. Is this true? I hope not since I just got mine this week.

1) Would it affect your enjoyment of the device to know that it was discontinued? I can understand if you just bought a D2 and a D2G came out, or if there was a D3G announced but the Pro is currently available.

2) No, there is no real overlap between the D2G and Pro other than a GSM radio. Very different form factors, the Pro is cheaper, the D2G has a faster processor. Both will coexist for quite some time and Verizon advertises both at the same time. Android is about choice, not one phone killing off another.

The Global just came out, I highly doubt it's discontinued. Whoever told you that probably was basing the statement off the fact that they vanished from BestBuy shelves. As far as I've heard it's only been BestBuy so it's likely a dispute between them and Verizon. Verizon still has the D2G's for sale on their site.

The D2 was discontinued due to D2G...you are still supported and most likely will see a couple updates before the D2G is outdated....Look at the OG Droid its still getting updated and its one of the older android phones.

even if it was discontinued i wouldnt worry since you can always root and get roms on it just like the original droid

No no no I am not worried, just curious. I love the phone just this just sounded odd since it just came out less than 3 months ago.
