Is the Droid Razr Maxx the first and last of its' kind?

That's what it seems like, there's new Android phones coming out and none of them prioritize battery life like the Razr Maxx. Which is a shame because I like having a phone where I can be a heavy user with the 4G and not worry about the battery life. I'm hoping by the time I'm eligible for an upgrade Motorola makes a new Razr Maxx that's thinner, has more power, and twice the battery life.

The Droid Razr HD/Droid Fighter is rumored to have the same 3300mah as the Maxx... but that's the only phone I've heard of with a large standard battery.

I can't speak for other companies but it appears Motorola may continue with phones with large, non-removable batteries. The market for this type of phone seems high and I don't see Motorola stopping. However, I don't believe every phone will face this and Motorola may continue to keep this as a RAZR thing. I can see a RAZR MAXX 2 sooner rather than later.

Remember, this is my thoughts and not confirmed.

Big batteries are nice, but I'd rather have a removable one that is big any day. Don't wanna send a device in for replacement, I'm a battery killer.

I just had a battery last almost 2 days.. and this is from a guy who was on it almost all day every day since i've got it. browsers, apps, calls, etc..

loveeeeeeee this pphone

I know what you mean, but when you think about it, by the time the Maxx's battery starts to wear out, most of us will be salivating for the next great smartphone. And since batteries wear out after a certain number of power cycles, then the fact that the Maxx's battery charge lasts at least twice as long as your average cellphone battery means that it will take at least twice as long to wear out. My Droid Incredible was still holding a pretty decent charge after about 2 years before I traded up for the Maxx, so it stands to reason that the Maxx's battery will last at least 4 years. (I hope I'm not way off base with these assumptions.) Who here can say that they won't want to trade their Maxx in for the hot 20-core flexible screen smartphone on a blazing fast network in 2016?

I hope Motorola keeps the huge battery theme going because I like their styling of phones. It'd be nice if others would take notice but so far it doesn't look like they're catching on. Oh well, I'm happy with my Maxx.

I wish HTC would follow suit. Their UI is much more user friendly and I find all of the Moto add ons to be obtrusive and pointless.

The only way to get a battery as big as the Maxx without having a huge hump on the phone is to have it non-removable. Pick your poison.

Sir Mix-A-Lot said it best....

I like Big Batteries and I can not Lie... You other Manufacturers can't deny....

But sadly I want a 3300 battery and ICE CREAM SANDWITCH!

I hope not. Getting mine in the mail tomorrow for my second line. I have an extra battery for my Nexus, but would rather have the longer life and not need to power down the phone. Also for work, considering that LTE is new in my area and signals are not all that great, the huge battery means I can make it through a whole day without charging. Nexus for play and Moto for work.

Don't get me wrong, I understand that everyone has their opinions and needs. But here's the benefits I see of the Razr Maxx stock battery:

-Larger than MOST Extended Batteries (let alone ALL other stock batteries)
-Much thinner than most phones that have much smaller capacity batteries
-Fewer charging sessions (longer lasting)
-Less stress about when you'll be able to charge again

The benefits of a removeable battery:

-More control/access of your device
-not worrying about your battery losing its capability during the life of your contract

Having stated those, I feel that the benefits of the Maxx's 3300 mAh battery FAR outweight the benefits of having a removeable battery. Isn't the basis of the battery to power your device? How can anyone complain about a battery that powers your device longer than almost any other battery on the entire market? I mean yeah, removing a battery can provide some peace of mind, but the only reason I used to need a removeable battery was so I could replace it with a larger extended battery. But this 3300 mAh one, is larger than any of the other extended batteries i've ever owned, and I had to pay extra for!

Thank you Motorola for this battery and please please continue to offer a similar product in future phones so I don't have to carry around extra batteries or chargers as well as my phone.

Yeah, this phone is great. I never worry about battery life anymore. I charge it at night, unplug in the morning and go all day without worry. Before this phone, I would always have to micro manage the phone the entire time. It was so bad with the Thunderbolt I would keep data off and only turned it on when I used the phone. Long live the Maxx. :-P
