Is the Galaxy S5 Too Big?

Ginormous. But looks solid if you need that level of protection.

I like the look of the case but also think it may add too much bulk. I do value a protective case though. I'll have to wait and see what the consensus think.

I guess it depends on your hands. One of my inlaws had the Razor Maxx and I have the S4 Active, which is pretty close on width to the S5 and I found the Maxx much more comfortable to use one handed. I sometimes have trouble reaching the far end of my screen. But I have pretty small hands, so it might not be a big deal for you. I mean, if you asked LeBron about his Note 3, I think he'd tell you it's perfect for one handed usability.

I find it pretty easy to hold. Especially when compared to the HTC one.

For me it's going to come down to the case I end up using. Def not gonna go max layers like an otterbox defender or I'll prob find the phone too big, haha.

Haha, so true. I love the size of my Note 3 naked but nearly every case makes it too big. Neo Hybrid is great looking for awkward to hold on such a big device. On the S5 its probably acceptable for me but I tend to stick to TPU cases. If you're looking for minimal bump protection look at the TUDIA branded cases. Great feel and are already available for $9 on Amazon. :)

I think the s5 feels good in hand and compared to the square edges of the razr maxx will probably feel better in hand. If nothing else, go play with them first and then decide.

It sounds like the the main consensus is the phone doesn't seem too big for most people. And I still have a few months to weigh other options and test out the feel of the phones. A case is definitely something to factor as well. I have an Otter Box right now. It is a solid beast and has protected my phone from a few falls. But I almost wonder, with the Galaxy S5's IP 67 certification, maybe I won't need the same layer of protection. I'd love to see more pictures of people actually holding the phone, without and without cases, and comparing it to other phones and objects as well. In the meantime I will read more feedback. Thanks!

I have the note 3 and thought that was to big after using the s2 skyrocket (4.5), s3 ( forgot but almost 5 inches) , s4 ( 5 ) and nexus 5 (5) but the note 3 fits perfect in my pockets. As long as your wearing regular jeans and nothing like skinny jeans the s5 or whatever phone you have you shouldnt have an issue with it fitting in your pockets

If you are one who drops your phone a lot and don't mind the screen protector ( you could take it out) the Defender is probably the best bet. The next up is the Commuter which gives decent protection considering the less bulk it gives. I personally don't have a case since while i like the defender series i despise the protector and the bulk it brings to the phone

I have a G2, and it fits in my pockets just fine, if not a bit snug with certain pants. Even with a case on it, which it has all the time. Now, I don't have an Otterbox on it, so maybe that makes a difference. I use the Incipio Dual Pro on mine. I can definitely feel the difference between it and my previous device, an EVO 4G LTE, but it's still not too big for me. I hope that helps.

IMO, Yes, the S5, M8 and Z2 are ALL to big.
Unfortunately sales of the S5 will probably continue to push phone sizes larger.

I find the Note 3 to be a bit big at times but to me the S5 is perfect. I held my sisters Razr Maxx (4.3" display) and couldn't stand it. Such a small keyboard its no wonder I always typed in landscape mode.
