Is the Galaxy S9+ too big?

No one can answer for you if it's "too big" . This is made obvious by the fact that in this very thread a petite female says it's not too big , and a 6'-1" male says it is too big. Everyone has their own use and preference. Just pick up an S8+ in a store and decide for yourself. While it is not a perfect match, it will give you a darn good idea. I could tell you that I use a Note 8 and it doesn't even seem big to me, but what does that do for you when the guy next to me would never buy one due to its size?

I got to hold the S9+ a couple of days ago. A Samsung rep was at Costco when we happened to be looking at phones. It's not much larger than the S8+, negligible really. The rep didnt have a case on it and it was lightweight and thin...just like the S8+. I really like the size of it, I thought I'd find it way too tall but it feels great in hand.

the phone itself naked doesnt feel bad but once you slap a case on it can be the deal breaker ... actually from the specs ive seen the s9+ is slightly shorter and slightly wider than the s8+

I had the note 4 with a case on it and hated the size, once i took the case off I loved it again and never put another one on it...Im not brave enough to not put a case on these newer phones

Keep in mind "not having an issue" is very subjective. Many of the people saying they aren't having an issue are using the phone with two hands. If you want almost 100% one-handed use (except when you're, say, snapping photos in landscape mode), the S9 is your choice. If you're cool with plenty of two-handed use, the S9+ is fine.

To the original poster:

How are you able to place a pre-order?

Pre-orders don't start until March 2nd, 12:01AM.

I can pre-order with Samsung upgrade in the UK. I have ordered the S9+ and they are due to be delivered on the 8th March :) We also get the 128gb version.

Anyone putting the 8+ in their front pocket? I want the 9+ but worry it will be rough in my pocket. Size in the hand seems fine but I am not carrying a purse... Have to run a case too.

Just like the issue with the fingerprint scanner, you have options to buy the smaller version of the S8 plus, and the S9 Plus. Why would this be considered too big of a phone? If it doesn't fit for you then select a smaller one. I am a Note guy and I've had them since the original so I am an average size person and I don't have an issue with the size of the phone. If I did I would just select the smallest size. Jeez people make the biggest issue of nothing

I am coming from only iPhone 6 and just placed a preorder for the Galaxy S9+. I chose the S9+ because it's still a narrow phone overall, so the larger screen seems like a necessity to enhance video watching experience.

I am, however, concerned about the size and weight of the device. Does anyone ever find that the S8+ to be too big? The S9+ is actually going to be heavier than the S8+ too.

I love the size, then again I love big phones. What's nice is it's a little shorter than the Note 8 but has almost the same screen size

I always put my Note8 in my front pocket, FWIW. And its a bit bigger than the S8+. Never had a problem. I carry it sans case wearing slim jeans. I just wanna be able to use the phone one handed all the time, not just some or even most of the time, so I'm going for the regular S9.

I have a Note 8 I occasionally briefly put in front pocket, often back pocket for short times, usually hold or in a hoodie/coat pocket

I always put all my phones in my front pocket. No issues. And that includes my note 8 and soon to be s 9plus

Except on this case you lose the telephoto lens and less RAM on the smaller version. It would be a different story if they had the same specs.

Exactly, and no one said it was a "big deal" except for the person saying "jeez, it's not a big deal" lol.

I have an S8+ that I use one-handed without any problems (I do have big hands tho). I wear carpenter/painter jeans a lot (with an extra pocket on the right thigh) & the phone with a slim Spigen case fits without any problems. Maybe people should check out the demo in-store & decide for themselves whether it's too big or not - I remember this same conversation when the S8+ was announced.

Remember that you can configure the S9+ to allow swipe down on the screen to lower the notifications, making one handed use easier, or you can do the same with the Nova launcher. There's also the triple click on the home button which shrinks the whole screen (although a bit too much for my liking) for occasional one handed use.

In terms of differences, I've found for my use profile (I use a lot of apps simultaneously), the 6GB RAM in the Note 8 makes a big difference over the 4GB I had in the S8+. I also love the bigger screen of both the Note 8 and S8+ for content consumption. I watch most of my content on my phone from YouTube to Netflix.

Depends a lot on what you plan to use it for. I wouldn't be using an iPhone with an LCD screen as my primary content consumption device because of the LCD screen, and certainly not the regular sized 6, whose screen is very small. But if you don't plan on using that it doesn't make a difference.

If all if comes down to is the 2X camera, I'd say go with the S9 because you may use that camera (I do), but rarely. And you shouldn't buy a phone based on a very rare use case if that use case makes every day use uncomfortable.

You can actually adjust the size of that for your preference. Hold onto the top corner and then drag it diagonally.
